Default Dont yell at me...

but is it possible to run a 226watt peltier off a normal power supply. The ps has 550 watts...

supposedly, but no.

check the side of your psu. there are all diferent amperages noted on the side panel of it. look at the amperage of your 12V rail; and compare it to what you need for the pelt. remember that your pc also needs a nice portion of the amps

I would offer the following arguement that I derived from speaking with another on this topic. If one ran the 225w at 75% of power which is more efficient anyway. The power from a 550w should do it. How you would accomplish this is varied as to knowledge and want to. I think I recall him saying that 11amps would be pulled instead of 15amps.

My 226 watt Pelt pulls 19.2 amps @ 12.05 volts (80% of 15 volt V-max).

IF your PSU can deliver a minimum of 25 amps on its 12 V rail then you might get it to work and still keep the computer stable.
