Matt, what size fan is it? Any possibility you could replace it with a medium to high speed 120mm?

Thanks. Though I think it'll be unnecessary now. I may pick up a generic 400W PSU for my machina and use the Antec 480W I just picked up for the pelt (alone). It pulls 12V/22A, so I'll be good, there, and it's dual fan cooled to boot. I may end up going that way, but after doing some research into the type (and worse, number) of resistors I'd need, I think it would be easier to just do it that way. I'd still be at around 80% max load or so, so I think I'll be fine. Thanks for the reply, though, and I'll let you know how it goes if I end up going that way.

On the lines of the fan, couldn't you just use any fan with a speed reader on it (like a cpu fan)? Just hack it onto the box? I think it would be silly for a manufacturer to use proprietary tech on something as insignificant as a fan.

mkosem, u dont recommend using a 226w pelt with it? Why not? Is there a way to test the stress on the PSU by a multimeter?

Read this post: http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/sho...t+AND+resistor

It can be done. You just need to build a board with a series of parallel resistors to bring the power of the pelt down to 75% (where it is most efficient, anyways). I guess the only thing you'll want to do if you do this is make sure that the power supply is properly cooled, because it'll still be running at close to maximum capacity at all times ... it could overheat if left running too long, unless an extra fan was run across it, I suppose. But that's an easy thing to do.

Check out this eBay store. These is a surplus electronics reseller with TONS of powersources that can power pelts. They are all pretty darn cheap, too.

No, although Miss Texas '84 was from my home town and later became Miss USA. I'm not Miss Texas. I'm just quoting her wisdom.
