Memory Upgrade - Snap Server 110

My Snap server 110 had 512MB SODIMM, and was showing in the BIOS as 256MB memory.
I have upgraded it with a 1GB SODIMM, now it shows in the BIOS 512MB, can anyone suggest where is the rest of the memory being utilized or is it not being used at all?????

Thx

Probably not the reason but could this be to do with the MB being incompatible with double sided RAM / certain types of RAM?

I had a standard MB do this to me... it drove me nuts!

Also how old is your 110?

Up until about 12 months ago they all came with 256MB, then they were upgraded to 512MB so they could cope better with Snap EDR & iSCSI etc...

I will check on another 110 but you should also PM schnappi as he probably still has a 110 or 210 & he may know?

Thx for your input Max8
The original specs are as follows:
CPU: 1000MHz
RAM: 256MB (Upgraded to 1GB but shows 512MB)
HDD: 160GB (Upgraded to 250GB)

I have noticed that the BIOS recognises it as 512MB, so I will have to do some BIOS tweaking, the current sodimm is DDR2-5300 1GB, its definately sth to do with the memory type used........

He has - and he knows.

The original and actual RAM has 256 MB.

I just made the test: put in a Gig module - it is the same module as used in the Snap 410 .. and .. it works.
My 110 now has 1024 MB RAM.

I think your module is to slow. Try a faster one matery!

Btw. Have you seen the size of the harddisk?

YES! it is a 2000 Gig Dirive.

I now can use 2000 Gig drives in 110, 210, 410, 410, 520 ..

Yeeaaa!!!!

Ram in servers are EEC, that may be your problem.

HD upgrade is difficult if your HD has failed. You do not have away to do the OS transfer, unless you have another GOS machine.
