Default Guardian OS FTPS

Having great difficulty getting FTPS to work with Guardian OS. Works with WS_FTP Pro, but not with FileZilla or WinSCP. And it only works with WS_FTP Pro when the client and server (Snap Server) are on the same subnet. Can not get port forwarding to work through a router. Any suggestions?

My guess is the Overland is running ProFTPD 1.3.1 that has known issues with SSL/TLS session shutdowns.

Is this the case?

Has anyone tried to upgrade to ProFTPD 1.3.2 that was released in February?

1.3.2 has fixed handling of SSL/TLS session shutdowns on data connections. This issue was causing problems for users of recent FileZilla versions which insisted on proper SSL/TLS session shutdowns.

99% certain that the problem is with the ProFTPD version that Overland is running. I have downgraded my FileZilla installation to 3.0.11.1 and it works fine (FTPES – FTP over explicit TLS/SSL)!

The newer versions of FileZilla identified the improper SSL/TLS session shutdowns as a vulnerability that an attacker could cause truncated files with FilaZilla thinking the transfer was successful.

So if you need FTPS to work with FileZilla and Guardian OS then you need to run FileZilla version 3.0.11.1 and nothing newer. Version 3.0.11.1 has more relaxed standards in regard to SSL/TLS session shutdowns.

I hope Overland addresses this in the near future. You can download the old FileZilla version from here: http://www.filehippo.com/download_filezilla/4377/
