Default 1/2" ID swiftech similar kit

I am looking towards building a system w/o the res, and the swiftech bleed fill kit intrigues me. However, I plan to use 1/2" id tubing and think that the original might hinder some peformance. And places make something similar, or know where I can get valves like theirs? O/T when will we get some standardization, when you say 1/2" it should mean either OD or ID, not both, but I digress. Also, how does performance differ in a setup like this opposed to an open res?

I'm not sure exactly how the Fill/Bleed kit works. Does the water enter into the side and exit the side? Do the two vertical pieces simply allow water to be put in and air to escape? If so, it will work like an inline system once filled: there will be almost no restriction. It will also benefit from the pump's ability to feed off of its own power. In a resevior system, there is a buffer that forces the pump to create all the energy at the beginning, only to lose that energy at the end of the loop. A Sealed resevior is better as it allows for the pressure to remain the same. Inline systems do tend to flow slightly higher than resevior systems as long as the restriction is similar.

I am familiar with the Swifty fill/bleed kit, and very familiar with the fittings they use. They are John Guest fittings, used in home reverse osmosis systems and refigerator water lines. Very good fittings, provided the hose end is cut and inserted properly. We have a second business for RO's and softeners.

The valves on the fill, bleed kit are only available in the 1/2" OD size, none bigger in our parts book. You can make your own fill/bleed kit with other valves. You need 3 valves. 2 to supply the pump on each side of the 3rd valve which turns off the normal loop of the system. This forces the pump to pull water from the fill container you are using. You turn on the 2 on each side of the loop shut off vlave while turning off the loop. The 2 outside valves should be as close as possible to the loop shutoff, it catches air since it's out of the loop while bleeding. Make sure you open and close the center vlave several times to get rid of the air in that section of hose. Then after the air is all gone, turn on the loop and turn off the other two valves, in that order.
