Old school Meridian Snap Server
Hi folks-
I'm trying to update my Meridian Snap Server 2000 with the stuff available from the SnapAppliance support site and I can't figure out how to get it into Software Update Mode. Running UpdateBios says that it use the web browser to place the server in update mode and then continue. Model - 2000 series Software - 3.4.803 (US) Hardware - 1.1.0 Serial # - XXXXX Bios - 1.2.180 I would like to update to the latest and greatest stuff but, first things first, then I'll start looking for v4 Any help would be appreciated. Use the assist tool or the browser config page.

SnapAppliance answer
Had the same problem.
You can put the device in update mode using the instructions from the Knowledge Base FAQ #8 (http://snap.broaddaylight.com/snap/TFAQ8.shtm) which uses the reset button above the network connector. Once the UpdateBios.exe runs, you have to power-off and power back on in update mode and run UpdateSnap.exe. However, once that finishes, you're supposed to power-off and power back on in update mode and run UpdateHelp.exe which doesn't exist. I contacted TechSupport. Since the s/w update to v.3.4.803 will fix our problem, they recommended not updating the bios to 2.0.279 unless there was a need. BTW - s/w v.4.0 will cost you $189 bucks. |

I have a copy of UpdateBios and UpdateSnap, I ran them and mine only updated BIOS to 1.2.180. I must have an older version of these files. I downloaded these files a long time ago from the snap web site. I ran them again recently, and they also reverted snap server back to OSv2.x
In Windows, the version information for both files (file-properties-version) are: File version: 2.0.279 (Which, if I remember right, is the SnapOS version that the snap server was reverted to) Would you be able to do the same test with your Update files? Thanks. Last edited by OzDave; 10-22-2004 at 07:42 AM. |
