best way for even heating is a stove top.. or hell maybe a toaster oven, but put it in a new thread so everyone can see it. and everyone who wants to see the maze3 thread can see it.

Flux to keep impurities out of course. Where in MIG welding the gas shroud around the weld point prevents impurities from forming. (Metal Inert Gas = MIG) Tungsten Inert Gas, is the puppy that welds aluminum. (TIG)

Solder is plenty strong for the blocks just getting an even heat across the large surfaces is something I have not done or needed to do before.

Interesting, though as EMC2 said copper/copper can be brazed. Brazing is routinely used in underground copper water piping where a stronger bond than standard solder is necessary .

Sherlock - yes, solder would provide more than enough strength for a top on a block if the surfaces were properly prepared, the strength issue was mentioned regarding Jessm's radiator fins And yes, a much higher temp is required, but that is a result of the metals in the compounds and their melting points.

Jim - brazing copper is very common is quality heat exchangers for the attachment of the fins to the tubes and is used for the 2 reasons I stated (much better thermal conductivity and extra strength, tho mostly for the first reason). You can get silver brazing compounds in paste, bar, and wire forms. There are different compounds that have differing heat ranges requirements as well. Just be sure to never get the older types that have cadmium in them (extreme health hazard).

Oh, I stand corrected, first I heard of this.

The next test batch comming is from a different grade of Polycarbonate ( don't ask me what - this is down to plastics Engineers).
I too am concerned with this, hence why we never released publicly the neptunes. End of day we don't want our products doing this:

This is a development block , thats showing the symptoms you are all saying is effecting the maze3 too.
Where to get this supergreen dye?

just a note on the maze3 mounting... they can only go on one way... or the edge will ride up on the plasic of the socket!

the "danger den" on the acrylic has to be on the oposite side of the plastic rise of the socket.

I noticed that... I wanted to put the block upside down so the hose would run where I wanted.. no dice. Good tip for newbs, though.. that would be an easy way to fry a proc.
