Re: Snap 4100 orphaned drive question
Well, I gave the server to the guy that sold it to us. He threw the drives in his server and it looked like it'd be able to pull the data. It had to run through the disk check and rebuild first so I left it with him and i'm waiting back for word on it.

Re: Snap 4100 orphaned drive question
You guys are alot more well behaved than other forums I frequent. Not much(or any) flaming going on. Nice change of pace.
I checked in with the guy that had my server. Turns out that even with the drives in another 4100 it still "freezes" after the disk check. He's going to try and clone the disks after booting to Linux I think, the phone kept cutting out so I didn't catch all of it. Either way, i'm not really hold onto much hope for the server since it now sounds like a drive problem if it's giving the same trouble in a perfectly working server. I'll keep you posted. |

If he gets lucky and can clone the drives, then the snap should rebuild them. The OS is a little archaic by todays standards, so it doesn't tolerate and funkyness from the drives. A fresh set might just make the difference.

Re: Snap 4100 orphaned drive question
We try to help users in need.
Wish we could have helped you recovered your data. You may still be able to use a recovery service, but lots of $$$$$. Were you able to determine if your 4100 is still good. Or were you just unforunate to loose 2 drives in you raid5 array?

Re: Snap 4100 orphaned drive question
Yeah, the data recovery centers are expensive and as such, out of the question. I think the server itself might still be good since the drives acted the exact same way in an identical server. I guess I just lost 2 or more in the strike.
Thanks alot. I'll probably stick around here for a while, i've learned quite a bit from this thread alone. |
