Default 13.8v PSU

Any thoughts on how a 13.8v PSU for automotive equipment would work for a 15 volt pelt. Haven't seen to many people mention using these. In theory they should power pelts better than your average ATX case because of the almost 2v difference in output. Anyone tried it? Any reason they shouldn't be used?

yup i'm running that pus in my system right now (the samlex 1223) and there is a small reho knob inside which lets you control the voltage to a point... i have it turned up to the max right now, gives me something like 16-18v... running my 172w off of it
