Green stuff?
A few days ago my tubes started clouding up so I took my loop apart. Upon opening my storm I found some green crap around the edges of the jet plate. None of the jets were clogged and the copper itself was free of this green muck but was tarnished (normal AFAIK). I couldn't figure out what it was but assumed it was algae. I had been using distilled water with a little more than a cap of antifreeze and 4 drops of Proviodine which is the same as povidone iodine.
I cleaned everything up and reassembled the loop. This time using only a capful of antifreeze, distilled water, and 5-6 drops of iodine. Anybody have any idea what this green crap could be? I should also mention that i had noticed some crap floating in my t-line. Also, I ran a rolled up paper towel through one of the tubes and I got this greenish stuff out. By the way, my loop consist of a Swiftech Storm, MCP655/ Laing D5 pump, brass t-line and brass t-line cap, and a Black Ice GT Stealth 240. As far as I know, I am not mixing metals so I did not put alot of antifreeze. |

Re: Green stuff?
I am fairly certain you have some algae growth.

Re: Green stuff?
Ok. Will I be fine with my current coolant? As in, kill whatever crap was left over from my cleaning and further prevent it.
"This time using only a capful of antifreeze, distilled water, and 5-6 drops of iodine" or should I go to an aquarium store and pick up some real anti algae. |

Re: Green stuff?
You might consider running something like "Ultimate *SOL flush,"* followed by several flushes with plain distilled to clear out any residue.
*You need to scroll down a to about the lower third of the page. I am unsure of the longterm effects it has on a loop. Use with caution.
