Default Anyone working on an active waterblock?

I've seen the topic come up, just wondering if anyone's
taken a pump, like maybe one of the C-Systems ones..
and mounted it to a copper base/heatsink directly on the
CPU socket. Seems like that would get your maximum turbulence
and pump action all in one package.

Working out the shape of the stator to match the flow from
the C-Systems rotor would be the key to getting this to work.

So any of you machinists up for a try?

Yeah Volenti tried it.

IIRC it worked alright, but not as good as the current generation of blocks.

I would be hesitant to put that much weight on the CPU. Thats a pound or two just for the pump?

I wouldnt think nearly that much. If the CSP-750 (C-systems pump) was solid aluminum (obviously it isnt) it would only weigh 176 grams. Even if we double that and add 300 grams of waterblock, we're still at 650g or so, well under the weight of a Zalman CNPS-7000A-Cu (773g) and with a lower center of gravity. Certainly fine for AMD64 and Intel, and should be fine for AMD XP with care.
