Default Waterfall Radiator?

Did a search for waterfall and didn't come up with anything specific to my question. So...

Has anyone toyed w/ the idea of using a perforated pre-reservoir to "rain" fine streams of water in front of a fan?

Assuming (intuition pump here) thin "rivulets" for maximum surface area, modest fan speeds and a good catch basin (the main reservoir) that provides no direct exhaust to cut down on water loss; Could one not gain a performance advantage by cutting out the middle man (radiator)?

Or does the radiator act as a heat sink to such a degree that it doesn't matter?

I used to lurk in these forums frequently but haven't been back since my 1st water-cooled machine until this silly notion popped into my noggin' (2 years and still going strong on the 1st fill thanks to your guys' knowledge ).

A quick look at wiki and it would seem that I am.

Thank you for expanding my water-cooling vocabulary.

Just knew this had to been done before.

Do you want to spray/pour water on the radiator that you are blowing air on? Like those super interchange coolers for race cars intended for very high altitude tracks? They spray a fine mist over the radiator which still has normal fans blowing over it.
Or were you just talking about a normal bong setup?

I always have a hard time picturing things

Just a normal bong set up.

I'd seen the term before, but had never looked into it (had it in my head that it was on the CPU end of things and not the radiator).

Could've saved you fine folks some time if I would of done some more research!
