It's beautiful.

kewl

now for a BradBlock vs. Maze2(3) shootout :p

baker269 04-27-2002 08:32 PM

Very nice. I was thinking of a block along those lines. Can't wait to see some temps and pics when you get it all together.

Brad 04-27-2002 08:46 PM

I own 3 maze2-1's (two are without coldplates now...) and 2 maze1c-1's, and I think I may get a maze3 soon.

More important is finding a top, a 1/2" barb, 2x 3/8" barbs, and some Artic Silver Epoxy, or Solder. I'm not sure about which one I want to use at this stage..

Cyco-Dude 04-27-2002 08:50 PM

hmm...the solder might be stronger, but who knows? you should be able to get the barbs from Dtek or DDen. you'll also need a tap and proper drill bit, etc etc...

Marco 04-27-2002 09:19 PM

Homemade stuff is always good, but I'm thinking that the thermal interface between the two pieces may lead to issues...

Brad 04-27-2002 09:30 PM

yes it will, but hopefully will be offset due to the design nd the turbulant sides

Marco 04-27-2002 09:52 PM

You'd better rough up the base then...

CptnDipshit 04-27-2002 10:04 PM

Would using Artic siller adhesive be a good igea on waterblocks or just solder? That would solve a heat transfer problem.

Just offhand I'll say that solder is substantially more thermally conductive than ASTE, and both pale, wither and die in comparision to pure jointless copper.

bastage..

ECUPirate 04-27-2002 10:37 PM

can't you just sqeeze them together really, really tight, and then wrap duct tape around the whole thing? (be sure to cut out a little hole on the bottom for the die) Duct tape can fix anything, you know...

:D

Better yet, you could create a separate channel around the perimeter of the block, and depressurize it. hehe... the vacuum'll hold it tight... ;)

Fixittt 04-27-2002 10:39 PM

WAY TO GO BRAD!

GOOD JOB!!!

I am always happy to see people making there own stuff!!!!!!

I bet you have a new found respect for the copper now, dont U?

Stuff is hard to work with, U have to do it slowly!

ECUPirate 04-27-2002 10:50 PM

hey Brad, how long did it take to bore that out?

Haddy 04-27-2002 11:09 PM

drill press goodness....now all u need is a 3rd cold plate and ud be all set

Del 04-28-2002 01:34 AM

Why dont u just use the plate u have as a top and buy a thinner plate for the bottom?

Brad 04-28-2002 01:36 AM

The insides will all be sandblasted in the worst possible way I can do it hehe. I realise single piece would be better, but I dunno how I could get some. (Fix, care to send me some 3/4" x 2" x long copper)

ECU, another comment like that and you'll be banned.

Fix, thank you very much. It took about 40 minutes, it wasn't that hard actually, I only had two issues, Drilling the centre 13mm hole, I just couldn't secure it hard enough hehe, the drill press doesn't vibrate or anything, but it was just really hard to do. The other problem was the jigsaw, about 70% of the way through the sawwing all of a sudden it started sticking. It was really pissing me off and I couldn't figure out why. I touched the block and figured out why, **** was it hot hehe. Threw it in some water, and went back to it.

ECU, as I said to fix, about 40 minutes

Haddy, I have a 3rd, from the other maze2-1 I own. I'm thinking about using plexi, or a thinner sheet of copper. I just don't know right now.

Haddy 04-28-2002 02:05 AM

hmm maybe a window in the copper? like just around the patern.....might be a lil too complicated...

jaydee 04-28-2002 12:24 PM

Cool!!!

UpAllNight 04-28-2002 01:38 PM

Nice block Brad

Good Ideal to...let us know how it works

Skydiver 04-28-2002 06:09 PM

Sweet work Brad. You sound like you might have too many wb now, want to sell me one? :dome:

Brad 04-29-2002 02:07 AM

do you want to pay shipping to the US?

Skydiver 04-29-2002 10:46 AM

I'm in UK, but I notice you're in NZ. Bog. Can you just email it :p

Brad 04-29-2002 02:23 PM
