m00j - lol, yeah, i could repaint it, and it DEFINITELY needs new feet. it has served me well, and does pretty well in games, but it's a couple years old now, maybe just time for a new mouse :)

superart, that's a good idea, i might upgrade to that mouse. didn't even know it was available :) for work, the trackball works a lot better. i've gotten myself used to small movements, and most regular mice just can't handle it. but, due to the mechanics of a trackball, i can comfortably use it at lower resolutions accurately. it's just a mechanics/ergonomics thing.

Ahh yea. That makes sense. What are you doing that you need small movements like that?

I actually bought a new mouse today. a basic Logitech Cordless Optical mouse, the black one. Its pretty nice. I needed a quality scroll mouse quikly to do some ProE work, and the touchpad on my parents' laptop just wasn't cutting it.

I'm not really concerned about resolution or anything. will just be used for some CAD work, no games. Most likely, I will return it before I go back to school in Jan.

iroc if you liked the mx700 but couldnt make really small precise movements with it why dont you try a mx1000. its more comftorable, lighter, has a longer battery life and is more accurate.

my friend has a trackball and i can play fps games decently with it but i think i can be as precise or more with the mx1000 i gor recently, cant say much about my old microsoft blue wireless mouse though it didnt like this table much (skipped alot).

but it really just comes down to what you are used to i guess, i have a friend that still uses that logitech ball mouse that came with his keyboard ages ago and he still manages to kick ass in fps games somehow.

hehe your poll doesn't cater for me *g*
using a m$ intellimouse (the one with the 2 side buttons) and the led shining out the back hehe. had it for about 7 years or something ridiculous.

gonna get a MX510 with my new PC...
Etacovda: a boomslang is a snake found in south africa. its direct translation is "tree snake" they are feared cos they just drop down on you or their prey and chow them.

to clear up the issues of dpi etc...
razor released the "boomslang" optical mouse, which was more responsive than the MX500. but its only good for players who use high sensitivity.

logitech released the MX510 to keep up with the boomslang's responsiveness and is best for low sensitivity, and also good for high sens.

if i was a high sens player id definitely get a boomslang. but im not.

i didn't know that was on the market when i originally posted. i'll have to try that out, my mx700 is about done for anyways.

i realize the trackball doesn't necessarily have higher res than a mouse, but i found it much more comfortable for what i need. more precise, smaller movements, that sort of thing. and to get smaller movements, i don't have to drag the thing 3 miles across my desktop. surprisingly though, it does act like it has pretty high res.

definitely the way to go, i think. i don't use it for games at all though, that still goes to a good mouse.

I have the MX510 and MX700, and the MX700 does indeed lag. In gaming it borders on unacceptable lag from the mouse. You don't notice the lag until you move on to better mice like the MX510. Also, once one of the feet come off, your mouse becomes useless for gaming purposes, and the feets are just little stickers. very weak.

Logitech G5

;)

2000 dpi, and its VERY nice to use once you have setup the balance just right :)

i am very angry that logitech doesn't care about the left-handed people at all. it is discrimination and oppression for left-handed gamers like myself and many of my friends. we still prefer logitech mice, but could not reach our full potential using our right hands. if they made left-handed mice tomorrow, our full power would be unleashed to wreak havoc upon the right-handers!

haha.
southpaw.

I'm getting a Razer Diamondback, I picked it up for $22 shipped, the performance increase from a Diamondback to Copperhead definitely doesn't justify the increase in price.

superart 09-26-2005 11:05 AM

whats the price difference between the mx1000 and diamondback?

Autobot 09-26-2005 11:44 AM

I'm perfectly happy gaming with my MS Trackball Explorer. :)

I am planning on getting a Razer Copperhead. Hopefully, it is as good as the specs say. :)
