why all teh secrecy? to prevent a DangerDen repeat?

pHaestus 09-20-2004 12:21 PM

well the wb's not even for sale yet. Makes sense to me. I am hoping the delrin catches on with others; seems like a nice material to make wb tops out of to me.

Why gift anyone who is incapable of researching a free head start?

Anyway, here's my take on the only place that anodised aluminium should be seen with water-blocks, and that's nowhere near the water:

Storm G4 is (sold) out!!!!

Had to suspend orders as the first batch is now provisionally sold out.

Chew_Toy 09-21-2004 07:22 AM

I just sent the money via paypal a few minutes ago. I was glad to get in on the 1st batch.

Cathar 09-21-2004 07:52 AM

Anyone who contacted me before a few hours ago is still safe. I just haven't gotten around to responding to everyone yet. It's just that a quick sanity count check told me that it would be prudent to suspend orders until I can sort matters out.

Frankly more than a little overwhelmed. Based on prior experiences the number of blocks that I had should have lasted for ~2-3 months, not for 2 just days.

pHaestus 09-21-2004 09:24 AM

OK I will NOT have my photo taking ability impuned. Here's a closeup of the prototype Storm G4 baseplate

Feel free to pick apart the relevant bits

/me watches Cathar have a heart attack

May we criticize your spelling? :)

threeputt 09-21-2004 09:33 AM

What's with black marks?

pHaestus 09-21-2004 11:49 AM

it's caviar

greenman100 09-21-2004 11:51 AM

how about a little more to the left?

psychofunk 09-21-2004 12:50 PM

Hey Cathar, is this another block that will require that a person filter the water in the loop or risk the little tiny holes in the nozzle getting clogged?

Cathar 09-21-2004 03:23 PM

I saw Phaestus' little jest at 4am this morning while up for a drink. I have to admit that it knowing the person who I think that Phaestus' is, it was going to be a joke even in my half-awake stupor.

It's the way of the future for water-cooling. Can't get high velocity without restriction. Can't have a high-velocity restriction without the potential for clogging. Just put clean filtered water in a closed unfiltered loop and you're fine. Most bottles of clean non-mineral drinking water you buy at supermarkets are fine.

That's because people know your work better now and teh water cooling community has grown.

greenman100 09-21-2004 04:22 PM

how many blocks were in the first batch?

Enough information given for history buffs to arrive at a rough estimate.

hi ho (Vonnegut)

it might be the DIY way, but I'm not even sure about that
each new wb is but a blip on the curve

Etacovda 09-21-2004 04:59 PM

I guess the 250+ estimate might not be too far off the bat then, eh? ;)

All it takes is hype (justified or not so) and awareness to sell a product; I'll hazard a rough guess here and say that at least a semi-decent percentage (10-20%?) of sales was helped by the interactive waterblock testing page :)

A tremendous overshoot.

Naturally for DIY. Living inside a glass bubble here.

Vonnegut reference is sadly lost on me.

BillA 09-21-2004 06:00 PM

Stew

I wouldnt be surprised (if you keep doing it, and dont get tired of it, of course) if 250+ is met.
