It has two sets of power going into it 53v and 10v.

If line 1 has 53v and line 2 has 10v it runs at full speed.
If line 1 has 53v and line 2 has 0v it runs at half speed.
If line 1 has 24v and line 2 has 10v it runs at half speed.
If line 1 has 24v and line 2 has 0v it proably won't run.

I actually just got one of these, not having a 48volt supply I used a 30volt 500mA from an old scanner with nothing applied to the speed control lines and it started to run. Applied a 5volt source to the speed control and sure enough it started to move more air, tried full 10 volts and I must say it moves more air than 2 120mm panaflows I was using. Noise is far less than the 120's but it is a much lower pitch, kinda like a small furnace blower. I think this blower is a steal at 25$ with intergrated Variable Speed control! Only downside, it is rather large.

P.S. from what i can tell its as positive grounded unit, as everything is rated "-'s".

A 1/2 amp power supply was able to run the fan. It is supposed to draw 4amps at 53 volts so that would be 2.25 amps at 30V

did the powersupply get hot while running?

Not really sure, Ive run it under full load for hour or so and it was warm but not hot. When I home tonight Ill hook it up and let it run for few hours.

Short two wires and I get half speed, open the connection I get full speed and variable resistor gives me everything in between.

Ill tell you how it goes when I get it.

What about something like this?
