iirc EMI from a pump is a risk to your monitor, not a HDD (you'd need a magnet as powerful as the ones in a scrapyard to affect them..)

eheim compacts can be modded for inline use and are cheap, small and reliable..... how small do you need?

tbh rio's are pretty loud....at least from my experience from having 2 of them before...

Now that I am going to use a larger rad I need to take new measurements in order to determine how large I can go. Do you know where I can find some info on converting an Eheim compact to an inline pump?

I hope I can squeeze a 600 in there, I would like something that has at least 2 ft head.

What about the new DDC?

ditch that 92, replace with a 120 sitting on a BIP as for pump this would be perfect for the DDC which you could mount below the HHD cage. Filling and bleeding will be a pita and you would have to take the CD to service things but your cooling would such that you could even oc a bit. BTW great work.

Hi m8, firstly the best place for more specific help will be from
Sudhian Forums which hundreds of users have WC in their Shuttles and other SFF's.

As someone else said, get a new Mobile Athlon CPU, they are not multiplier locked which allows them to be under-clocked to reduce temperatures even further. But these run a lot cooler, typically mine is 10C less than my TBIRD 1.3 was, even at 2.2Ghz.
Watercooling is not a simple quiet install, and because of the limitation of rad size then fan noise is often worse than air-cooling because of the greater restrictions of airflow than to a conventional HSF.
Finally try and discover the sources of the noise, often vibration of fans and drives will be more noticable in an SFF, so consider mounting fans and drives on anti-vibration mounts.

Ruiner: I am aware of the DDC pump but I have a very tight budget.

I am saving my money for an upgrade of my main rig - I have a PIII 1.2GHz, and I am saving for an A64 3500, Nforce4 mobo, 1 GB RAM, 6800GT, DVD burner and a 500W PSU. So all other projects get very little funding and the HTPC has already cost more than I planned to spend.

I took some measurements and I can't have both - either a 120mm rad or a eheim compact 600 - no room for both. But while reading another thread I came up with the idea of using a motorcycle oil cooler. Do you think I can find one that is about the size of a 92mm fan? Where would I start to look for one - I do not know much about motorcycles.

I think I found room for the pump - I started ordering the parts today!
Time to go to home depot and look at some barbs, I need to figure out how I'm going to do the plumbing.

If you have the ability, you should ream your barbs out when you get them.
