Swifty is an OEM now...
Not many companies make and market their waterblocks themselves nowadays, Dangerden, Swiftech, Alphacool, just about everyone distributes their blocks to other companies for resale. I can almost guarentee most of swiftech's sales are to resellers and very little of their production actually gets shipped out to end users from their website. No longer is this a mom-and-pop business, it is called the watercooling industry for a reason. |

Swifty is an OEM of water blocks, however, to be fair one would have to categorize the sale of kits as a strictly wholesale activity since some parts come from other OEMs. This is not a slight to Swiftech. I have always been a big fan of their kits. |
I wonder what that makes the car mfgrs ?
not OEM because their cars have parts made by others ? your definition needs more subtlety what of the comparative testing upon which the conponents' selection was based ? what about modification of the purchased parts ? in this specific instance I think your definition is way off |

Ive found it, one of the best examples of bling! completely, utterly pointless. (and of course, Tt's magical lack of sound - "Noise:21dBA") (yes, this is OT) "Swifty is an OEM of water blocks, however, to be fair one would have to categorize the sale of kits as a strictly wholesale activity since some parts come from other OEMs." Thats broad - most waterblock makers probably dont make their own barbs etc, under your definition they're wholesalers... "the serious consideration of bling is being forced upon me by the success of products having such as their principal characteristic, and even more compelling is the preference for bling at the specific expense of performance" I guess it depends on the product - i for one, would lose a (very) small amount of performance for ease of use + function (but not bling) - people that want more will either go from scratch and make their own, or modify something to suit (see mcp350 recent mods?) Of course, I'll take style with extra performance, but not over it. |

Bill I like having beers with ya lets not get into a pissing contest over this. NONE of us should be crying about Corsairs kit. Let's hope this puts more water in the pond ;) |
lol.. i just saw a link to the corsair kit on anandtech and was like wtf that is swift and was about to make a thread... but here one is.. lol..
bill, i guess corsair gave up and decided that swiftech had already won... hey if u cant beat em, distribute them... |
no, not at all
I am not a spokesman for Corsair but some things should be apparent Corsair is in the WCing business, first with the Hydrocool and now with this kit and I would not be surprised to see more from them, this is perceived as a growth market and they, and others, wish to participate Corsair's kit is not the Swiftech slam-dunk that some are describing, it underwent considerable refinement along the way L5, my post about Coolingworks was in jest, my second a humorous jibe at you - sorry it was taken so seriously - but do note the co-inventor's name on one of those pieces of paper dancing fans ? do those things actually sell ? |

-agreed and some with less integrity would have discounted the contributions of others. However, let’s keep the amount of development work done in this office in perspective. ;) |

I've found your posts informative, feel free |
Where to by a Corsair COOL ?
For $175 not $200 Try here ... :D http://www.markonecomputers.com/product.as...ir_Cool_001#des http://mywebpage.netscape.com/emptyn...ool001Ejpg.jpg A $25 USD savings with more features over the similar kits. http://www.systemcooling.com/forums/...icons/wink.gif |
Hmm, can't say I like the fact that the tubing is "factory-clamped" to the block. Are the clamps user-removable?
|
with side cutters and some muscle
then use hose clamps |
so what fan exactly is included with the kit?
the picture above looks like a panaflo, other pictures on the website look like another brand why did they choose not to use swiftech's fan? a factor of noise or performance? |
you'll probably have to ask Corsair directly
our newest contributor, stev, is on the Delphi side of things |
Les mentioned it already, but why only 240 pins on the new Corsair waterblock?
To lower the pressure drop? It doesn't seem to be a typo (not after so many days gone by). |
Anyone actually bought this and tested it themselves?
Looks pretty good to me for a full kit |
