Re: Snap 1000 Error
Your drive looks to be unmounted. Did you format the drive after coping the image(bin) of the SnapOS on the 500GB HHD?
from debug: conf dev format 10000 /reinit then, reboot This should format your HHD to 500GB after this then we can resize the HHD to 400GB, but not until then. report back, thanks Quote:

Re: Snap 1000 Error
OK, formatting now. When done- and the drive is good (green) are you suggesting I run the command:
conf dev small 40000 10000 Or would it be helpful to see any debug or screen shots first? |
Re: Snap 1000 Error
That is correct... invoke the command
conf dev small 40000 10000 report back, thanks Quote:

Re: Snap 1000 Error
Bitor, thanks for your help. I was unsuccessful in getting the 500gB to work again, it must be the low memory issue that the 1000 has. I have read that 320gB works fine, so I got a 320 and cloning the original snap server drive to it then reformatted it to full capacity and loaded my latest backup onto it (Nov 2009). Its working now, but the web files since my last backup are still on my 500gB drive. I'm going to try Linux to access the web files.
Can you answer a few questions for me? ;) 1. I have the model 1000, but I understand that there is a Version 1 and a Version 2. What is the difference and how do I determine which one I have? 2. Whats the best drive jumper setting? CableSelect or Master? 3. If the Linux can't read the drive, what would you suggest? I'd like to recover the latest web files. How did DCC1234 get in my post? Regards ~bOb |
Re: Snap 1000 Error
My 500 gig too, refused to format this time-- just hung at around 25%--- Hi microsvc! Thanks very much for your help Bitor.
I'm going to give up at this point- and look around for a 320 or an old WD utility that can set /reduce the drive size- (if such a utility exists). mw |
Re: Snap 1000 Error
You are welcome and glad that everything has worked out so far. Try Linix, but I'm afraid that it may not work on this SnapOS file system. Use UFS Explorer Standard Edition to retrieve your files from the SnapOS HHD if you have to. This is a modified BSD OS with a UFS. (Unix File System). This is the only public tool I know that will allow you to mount and recover files.
Snap1000 has 32MB and the Snap1100 has 64MB of RAM. I will try to answer as best as I can your questions at hand. A;1.) What I have been told about the difference in Snap1000 v1 & v2 is that v1 has the OS loaded in to a onboard chip and therefore all you have to do is just change a drive and that SnapOS mfg version is installed on the HHD. The v2 you have to image the SnapOS file to the HHD and then format,etc,etc.. So, v1 is more user friendly. A;2.)CS,MS, depends on the drive you are using. That's something you will have to play with. I have some drives that work with MS, then others work with CS and some work with either or. But the best would be to use MS on a single drive on Snap1000 to start. A;3.) UFS Explorer Standard is for single drives UFS Explorer Pro is for single and raid recovery. A;4.) DCC1234 is here like everybody else I guess...for help. The forum is open to all to participate. Brain food on the file system if you would like to understand a little about it. http://www.answers.com/topic/unix-file-system Here is a link and file to use at the bottom if you would like to explore your snapos HHD. This will not allow you to recover anything , but it will let you know what is on the drive. Check it out. It's a good tool with good SnapOS info. http://www.dtidata.com/resourcecente...or-snap-os-4x/ Share and share a like, bitor Quote:
