hm... i was wrong about my waterblock... it ain´t singlepass... singlechannel not singlepass. when i was writing the above i hade been hitting the crackpipe for 18 straight hours. i have 2 large channels inside the block....

I made ablock like that one but it just has 2 holes drilled strait through it . It actually worked pretty good!!!! You can have a really bad design and it still cool better than air.

i actually dont think that i would get better temps with another block... my cpu doesnt emit that much heat so i think my block can handle it....

Brad 01-09-2002 06:10 PM

Fix, I think also in the future we will have IHS's to spread the heat out a bit more. currently all that seems to matter is water flowing in the centre, good flow rate, and that the block is held down well.

In future, instead of cooling 10mm x 11mm or so we will be worried about cooling down 25mm x 25mm, or whatever the heatspreader is. So that area will have to be concentrated on

exactly. i dunno about you guys but im actually quite exited about the new p4... if intel could drop their prices a little bit maybe the can get into this crowd again.

the p4 has much better clamping possibilities and the core itself is much more solid than amd´s. i think the intel core can take about 5 times as much as amds infact... this itself has great possibilities.

yeah, I am too, the 1.6 and 1.8 northwoods look good because they are cheap, and are the exact same core as the 2.2 ghz ones, so they should overclock similarly.

[dannzig] 01-10-2002 04:52 PM

what can you say . northwood here i come :)
im gonna be robin northwood os something like that..... hm.. sorry... was meant as a lame joke...

Brad 01-10-2002 04:56 PM

yes that was bad ;)

still, I do think the northwood is very good. Make sure you get the Soyo or Epox sis645 boards, they are just awesome boards, with everything overclocking related you'd ever need

Can you still only OC with FSB on the P4's? or do they have multi adjustment aswell now?

Brad 01-10-2002 05:16 PM

yes, but it doesn't matter, on the abit 850, 845, and sis645 boards you can fix the pci at 33mhz

humm so you can leave the PCI at 33mhz and jack up the FSB for the memory and the CPU!!! Interesting.

Brad 01-10-2002 07:34 PM

yes.

also, on the th7-ii, you can run the ram at 3/4. In the sis645 you can run the ram at about 5 ratios

[dannzig] 01-11-2002 02:55 AM

seems like some people is going to hit VERY high overclocks with these boards n processors.... a little watercooling is all it takes... to make it to the pro´s :)

Brad 01-13-2002 03:26 PM

yes, 2.6ghz + is common.
