But D-Tek doesnt have any good inventory, so I got the Maze3.

And the maze3's inlet is over the CPU core!

Does that really help? I didn't notice it after I had filled the system with water.

Fixittt 05-27-2002 02:11 AM

Creature. Does what help? I assume that you mean the inlet over the core. I think it helpsdo you to a certain degree, but my opinion of the maze3 with that large open volume, I dont think it really matters. I am sure there are arguments bothways. But the theory has opened up a new set of designing methods. I am sure that any preformance gains are slight.

Fixitt:

When are we going to get some specs. on that block and then when might it be available?

That looks like the perfect block replacement in my system, IF it does better than say a Maze2 or even a Maze3.

Brad 05-28-2002 03:20 AM

it looks nice, I'd like to see a roundup though, but then wouldn't we all?

bigben2k 05-28-2002 08:55 AM

and to leak more info... the block will be available in about two weeks, and will have a provision for mounting a Pelt.

I like the turbulators! I just wish that the inlet and outlet came out of the sides, instead of the top, as it would decrease the flow resistance, but then it wouldn't fit for a lot of people... here comes another mod!

Brad 05-28-2002 01:36 PM

I'd prefer a centre inlet and two outlets, it wouldn't be hard to modify either, just drill into the top, then tap it

Would you believe that that's open for debate now?

(see page 4, i think...)

ETA... Still unknown. But they are being made.

And for what it's worth, they're being made by the same machine shop that's doing those lovely TC-4 blocks.

V12|V12 05-28-2002 04:11 PM

OMG OMG OMG. That block is a work of ART. I'd put it on show at the local art museum! What are the dimensions on that block? The flow chamber doesn't look to huge. Has anyone gotten any static die numbers? How much are they going to cost? BlaH! I'm SO jealous! You machine shop harlots! lol  Oh yeah, go for the copper top, it only adds to cooling power! Plus there's almost no chance of leakage etc. Good work to whom even made that nice piece!!

I wish I had a CNC miller! BTW- Does anyone know how to get rid of this "hot stank" crap... that's going to get jokes, I know it!

Cyco-Dude 05-28-2002 04:24 PM

it will change when you have more posts under your belt. besides, i understand your setup isnt "all that"? i guess hot stank is a fine title if thats what you are hehe
(just pokin fun bro ;) )

Be careful what you wish for. Just ask ECUpirate:evilaugh:

:p

I got lucky enough to see that block in action on Friday.   All I can say is if it performs as well in all systems as the one I saw, the TC-4 will be the best performer. It was getting killer temps with an AMD XP running at 2.10volts. You guys will marvel at the attention to detail on the TC-4 once you get one. From the chrome barbs, to the perfect seal around the o-ring. I also got to see the Spiral blocks that are getting close to shipping. They are a peice of work!

I am going to have a fire sale on a Maze3 and Maze2 the day the TC-4 is available.

And yes!!!! These are being done at the same shop as the Spirals. :D

Fixittt 06-02-2002 01:42 PM

Ahh Ric, U must be the gentelman that went by Dteks shop. Danny told me you went over. So....... like what you see?

Yes, the new Spir@ls are being made by the same machine shop. Danny fronted the cash, and I gave them the designs, and we made some small changes. Only so more people could enjoy these things as we have.

Well. Fire sales are always fun.

WHOO HOOO

ambient 06-02-2002 03:41 PM

That is great news!! I think you guys will be able to do very nicely when you're able to ship on demand. At least as well as danger den does. However, what do I know. Cept I'm gonna buy one:D

jtroutma 06-02-2002 04:51 PM

All I want to know now is .....WHEN!!!!! :)

bigben2k 06-03-2002 08:43 AM

Mr. Fixittt, would you consider making that block with inlet/outlet that come out the side of the block? I think it would be less flow restrictive. (Assuming it fits on my mobo, of course!)

I really like the spiral design, I'd lke to see some numbers on pressure drop at different flow rates, as I suspect they are what makes this block such a good one.

Fixittt - Yes! Seeing your block on the internet is nothing compared to seeing it with your own eyes. No wonder people are willing to wait for your block. It will be well worth their time that's for sure!!!!!! It's always a BIG plus when you can see things live and get a good appriciation for what you have been bringing to the watercooling community.

For all of you guys thinking about a Maze3 - WAIT - Fixittt will agree you guys will be happy very very soon.

I'm definately gonna wait to buy this instead of a maze3:)

Brad 06-04-2002 04:31 AM

fix, do you think you could put a 1/2" ID or 5/8" ID copper pipe through the middle of the block? 3 barbs will be cool, and it might give enough performance benefit to make dtek offer it as a standard option
