Oh, and if my reckoning is correct, you should be able to use an AC switch for this use. The difference in AC is that the polarity resembles a sine wave (oscillates from terminal to terminal) while DC has static polarity. If you connect your leads to the right pins on the switch it should work. Just look at the lead diagram on the back and attach it to the white and black leads (the green is the ground line).

That last one used to be available at Radio Scrap, I don't know if it still is (I've got a few!).

The SPST means Single Pole Single Toggle. Momentary is an extra feature on those. What you are looking for is a "Normally Open" momentary switch. AC or DC, it doesn't matter: a switch is a switch.

Somebody finally knows what the damned abbreviations mean! I've always wondered ... that might make it easier to remember. And yes, that last switch is available at the Rat Hack as a "125VAC" switch ... it costs 5x as much, though, but its convenient, I suppose.

SPST single pole single toggle
two pins, and the switch lever (or button) makes them either on or off.

SPDT single pole double toggle
3 pins, and the lever makes the middle one (usually) contact either one.

DPST
(4 pins) same as SPST, it's like a double switch, but with only one lever.

DPDP double pole double toggle
(6 pins) same as SPDT, like a double switch.

SPST: aka, single pole single throw... (or toggle) :)

and Ben's right. A switch is a switch. In fact, you could take the two leads going to the switch and momentarily touch them together, and that would work.

Thanks for your help guys, i didn't have to buy one after all. I just robbed one off my friend's old ATX case. But now I know for next time. My little bro has found an old AT case he wants to mod.

just be careful with those AT psu's... like I said, the brown leads going from the PSU to the front switch are HOT! Don't poke around inside those cases if you don't know what U R doing!

and if you want an AT switch, I just bought a dozen of them for about $1.00 each.
