ive got 2 P3-700 boxes i can run at work full time and an iMac 360, And a XP 1600+ and 1ghz laptop at home. It would be good if whatever we do decide on has a linux client. :-) But anything is fine with me. I'd prefer not to do SETI or Folding@Home

AMD XP1600+ @ 1790MHz and a P-III 700....

must have Linux client.... ;)

Can O' Beans 09-18-2002 01:04 AM

Well, from what I understand the Linux client for F@H is slower than the Win client anyway...

Just tried a few,, i like the Distributed Folding one alot. Their screen saver client is junk but the text based one has nifty ANSI graphics :-) i miss ANSI.

Hallis 09-18-2002 01:29 AM

well,, the Distributed Folding linux client is faster than the windows one.. not by a WHOLE lot but noticably enough.

Bump to keep this thread from dying.. we REALLY should get a Distributed Folding team going.

What project is next

They reached there goal now what do we do next

clone 10-16-2002 10:06 PM

how do i run this thing on dual cpus
?
exact steps

jtroutma 10-17-2002 11:52 PM

Clone:

Setup, install, and run the text mode version of the client in the background.

THEN

Setup, install, and run the text mode version of the client in the background IN ANOTHER FOLDER.

Hence you have two clients running at the same time.

Only way it can be done. Currently doing it that way in my Dual 1Ghz server; ticks me off that I HAVE to do it this way.

Yo-DUH_87 10-18-2002 12:03 AM

I have:

1 Pentium 4 2.4B @2.84 GHz

1 Pentium 4 2.0A @ stock

1 Pentium III 600 @ stock

1 Pentium III 700 @ stock

and 1 Pentium II 350@ (overclocking in progress) (not running yet, I need another network card).

All running UD for Bit-Tech ;) I tried the folding@home client, but I've found that UD is much more reliable. I'm rising in the ranks!!
