Yeah, good old epox... Last machine I had (athlon 750, Slot A) was based on epox, and I didn't have problems with it. I bought MSI cos' one computer magazine here said it's great (AND I liked red color of it). Now I would gladly buy a Epox mobo, but guess what - no computer shop here in CRO have them! No more Epox for us here, although one can buy many others like Abit, Asus, Msi, Gigabyte etc...
That's funny (or rather sad) that mostly all the stuff that is good and valuated outside CRO is mainly avoided here, and people are forced to buy what the shops have, no special orders of any kind. I used to be quite mad about this, but I'm now beginning to feel phlegmathic. Sad story... |
don't feel too sad, situation isn't all too different here. he who seeks , will find. i have just recently found lots of cool shops just km's away from my door, whereas they used to be 100's of km's away. things do change, and google will be your partner finding those changes (feeling funny after having drank couple of beers).
who knows , some webshop might have just opened behind the corner? anyway, keep hassling them for some brand and eventually the power of the consumer will sway them into buying it, i am starting to see way more choice over here. in the last 6 months. |
OOOOOHHH, don't worry, I'm already feeling much better...:) :)
I got bored bitchin' all the time, so I took my wife's Amex card (yes, she knows, she gave it to me;) ) and ordered AS3 (cannot get it here) and some blue UV dye (mostly, never heard of it) from BECooling...just minutes ago... If I cannot get it here, I'll get it over the 'big puddle'. I know that I could order it from Germany or Switzerland (almost did) but the sites I found don't accept credit cards. So be it... Happy, happy, happy...  |
have no hands on xperience, so for the ones living on the 'wrong' side of the puddle; trust is something important.
have some friends that ordered from danger den directly arrived without problems same friends bought some stuff from www.low-noise.de arrived without problems i tried to order some stuff from Dtek, they never replied on my command so this might be an idea for a worthfull thread; INTERNATIONAL trustworthy dealers. so if u plz, lemme know if the deal with becooling turns out, before i give them some cash money. hope it turns out ok puzzdre. btw, i need to visit your country soon, the girlfriend is nagging me about visiting former yugouslavia, for holiday. been taking her to good ol' france for as long as i know her, and she wants to broaden the horizon. anyway, from what we can judge from here, nature is quite impressive over there. dunno about the the pplz attitude with all the 'stuff' (u know, don't want to harm any feelings) that has went down in the region. so, way off topic, how is the atmosphere in Cro in general terms ('knowing' u, it must be pretty ok). |

Yes, the things are pretty quiet here, seems like any 'normal' country, people trying (and succeeding) to forget all shitty things happened in last decade and return to the normal life... I'm sure you'll be welcome here, for recent past years more and more people came here for hollidays (on the adriatic sea mostly), but only thing you shouldn't expect is lots of (not so young people) speaking english. Most of the youngsters speak english or german or both (more or less 'fluently'), so I think you'll not have any problems. Food is good (although a little spicy for some), many people claimed our beer to be good, etc.. If you're into nature, go to the adriatic coast, and make sure you visit national park Krka and Plitvice. I'm on the completely opposite side of the country, and here we have mostly forests and plains... nothing very interesting here on the east... Trains and buses are on time, trains being somewhat oldish, but doable. Don't worry, people are frendly here... Your'e will be wellcome!!!! oh, if you two are more into the old cities, go to the Dubrovnik, on the south of Cro. |
stupid me and my bad behaviour...
If you two happen to pass through east Croatia, email me, I'll be more than happy to show you around here a bit...:p No worries, I'll let you know how that deal with BECooling ended. Jtroutma was first to order some stuff from them (first that I know of) so we can ask him too... yeah, that trustworthy dealers thread may be good idea, specially for us in europe... |
Yes Croatia is beautiful, I know that as my father was from Dalmatia :D If you like mountains you must drop by Slovenia, I live right bellow them and I like climbing them, you can't beat a view on a nice day. But our see can't be compared with Croatian coast and islands.
Hey Puzzdre most of the stuff is available here in Slovenia at least AS3 and Epox boards :D funny thing I bought my Epox 8kha+ in Zagreb, and one of this days I'll be rma friends gf4 4400 that went bad, so I'll be in Zagreb need any stuff ? btw I bought some new thread cutting oil in a spray can today which is great for drilling and milling too REMS special 600ml ~100kun , so I'm well suplied for quite some time. |
thx for all the tips and hospitality!!!
i like mountains, forests even more than the sea, because both those things we don't have in belgium (where i live it is all sand, no rocks :-( ) i like mountainbiking alot, so i'll have to figure a way to get my bike along too. some friends already went riding in the region and they say it is crazy riding at certain places. car is prolly a bit far. it is already 1000+km to milan. btw, jroutma is also from europe? problem is what i hear from the guys i know that ordered overseas is, u pay the price without sale tax; but when the courier arrives u have to pay the sales tax and everything, so u thk it is real cheap but u still have to pay +/- 25% at the dilivery ppl. and i will make sure to let you know when i get there, nothing beats visiting a region and see someone u know that lives there. :-) |

Morph, can you share some Slo online shops that I can use for stuff like AS3 and so? The postage would be much less, and the delivery (I believe) much faster. I don't wanna push this too far, so just say if it is too much, but...can you pm me with the price for that radial block with the plexy top you made (the latest creation, I think), maybe we could meet in Zg. I'm planning to go to Zg next week. Of course, just say no (I dunno how time consuming it is making that piece of art, and are you willing to make one for sale, etc...). For the other stuff, I'll have to hold my horses for this month, I have car registration scheduled, and that is money consuming...:p Quote:

now you got me double thinking...One thing sure, I need moooore coffee!;) |

(edit) just phoned Saint Gobain HQ - they will send me an email with reseller information (i hope so...) - i'll keep you updated. |
@gmat: I placed my order to safeshopper.becooling.com (www.aquastealth.com) USA, and for now, order just sits there. Guess it's the time zone thing. The european reseller would be fine, one place I know is in Switzerland ( www.pc4all.ch ) and they have tygon but don't accept credit cards.
I'll see what this last night joke will cost me in total, and let you know. I hope that I won't be such a monkey in the end... But if I do, one good thing being a monkey is free bananas, scratching the b@lls and picking the nose IN PUBLIC, not just in safety of your own home...:D :D :D Anybody would like their doors arched instead of square? I feel like I could use some banging my head onto it and earn some extra money while learning my lesson...:p Quote:
thou shall not say stupid no more, but instead of doing that, thou shall say Puzzdre, like You Puzzdre! or You're the Puzzdre'est man/women/animal/plant/piece of furniture/diving equipment/mobo in the world! ofcourse, until someone throws me from the trone... thx guys. |
this some seriously funny stuff u r putting out Puzzdre. anyway, thk u r in the same time zone as me, so i guess u were way overdue for getting into your bed. man i wish i got so funny when being tired. loool
most german webshops r real cool, already mentioned www.low-noise.de ; www.com-tra.de this is all ok for the normal stuff, some place to buy tygon in europe would be nice, but not that important in my eyes. |
Okay i found a french reseller in Lyon. They take mail orders in Euro (so it's okay for you g.l.amour) but i think not by credit card.
If you speak French you can phone them: (+33) 472 054 650 Or else drop a phone call at St Gobain Advanced Plastics (French speaking only): (+33) 386 637 878 ask em for a reseller near your location. |
So not to be a tygon whore but.....I am. I've used both vinyl and pvc and they are stiff as $hit and have way to much memory. Tygon is like a baby's a$$. It is soft, supple and will bend around and over pretty much anything. Not to say that vinyl or pvc doesn't work, it just can't compare to tygon. I'm also a cheap bastard, but once I tried tygon there was no turning back....;) And no I don't work for any company that distrubutes the sfuff.

@gmat: thx for the info, I'll just wait to see how this oversea deal turns out, than decide whether or not buy things elswhere... Sadly, I don't speak french, learned german in elementary school, so I can use what I remember (Ich heise Heidi stuff), then switched to english. Tried to learn japanese myself (just to be a higher grade weirdo), bought the book and the tape, but it ended similar like german (Konnichiwa, o genki desu ka...):p @ambient: yes, I believe that life can be easyer without wrestling with pvc stuff, I recently bought some silicone tubing (the shop had only 8 mm ID, but I couldn't resist), after that I found another shop having wider ID silicone, but not in stock, so I decided to wait... I like the softness of the silicone, and I'm bound to try some tygon soon...:p btw, that japanese expression means roughly 'Good morning/evening, how are you' |
I just got email from BECooling. My order is shipped, within 24 hours...so far, so good...but no tracking damnit:mad:
|
hmm, still thk it is pretty slick that they got around to send it so fast...
but gmat found someone in france to sell it, must be possible to get a hold if it in other countries in europe. |
dunno, I ordered one AS3 and one bottle of blue UV dye for now.
They have tygon in stock (according to email), but I left that for coming NewYear and receiving (and giving:) ) presents. So, the tygon will be here after newyear, and I hope to receive my first order till then  |
BTW, Yes I am not from Europe :)
San Luis Obispo is correct, Central California (between LA and SF) I like living in California but it is just too DAMN expensive here :D |
Hey, what was the price/meter for this tygon wonder tubing. I'm currently on silicon which is good but water very slowly evaporate. And one more thing Puzzdre does that swiss retailer sell to and buyers, but just dont accept credit cards, or you just can buy the stuff?
|
It's ordinary web shop, the price is 16.90 SFr per meter
http://pc4all.dynu.com/shop/default.php?cPath=23_47 According to the email I got from them, you can pay by wire transfer or send the right amount of money (Sfr or Euro) in secured envelope directly to them. I wanted to order one AS3 and one small bottle of WaterWetter, altogether the price 20.50 euro, and the postage to Cro 12 Euro. I just didn't like the idea of sending (and mostly waiting) for the money to arrive there, than again waiting for goods to arrive here. Or messing up with the bank and their fee's for wire transfer. Just wanted clean easy way of paying with credit card. One tip though, I once sent the money to the Germany for a book (Supercables cookbook, DIY audiophile cables), and the guy told me to put the money in envelope together with one floppy disk, to prevent those security thingies on customs/airports to see the metal strip incorporeted into money bills. He said its more safe that way, that money will not be miraculously extracted from the envelope... Btw, that deal went fine.... |
Just a update on my order from Becooling: I picked up my package today and everything is fine. Got meself AS3 and a bottle of blue UV dye.
From USA to Croatia in 9 days. Just for the people interested how the deal turned out. I'm satisfied.:D |
thk u!!! now find some us retailer that is willing to send me a swiftech block (in europe noone seemts to have the 462-uh version :-( )
|
Err, dunno if this is what you looking for, but found swiftech for socket A (462) on this Danish site:
http://www.studiedata.com/product.as...uct=148&page=1 Didn't understand a single word on the site, but seen the pic:D Hope it helps, Good luck! /edit/ sorry, now I got it, you look for 462-UH, 1/2 barbs...nope, haven't found it... Just didn't catc that UH seriously...sorry... |
