I did pretty good this weekend. That P4 system I mentioned before is running good now (and I figured out why it was reading stupid-high temps. Problem with MBM config, not with the processor). Also late last week we finally got our second CPU's for our two tech-servers here at work (we have two now-dual 2.8Ghz P4's for me and 5 other guys here at work to test stuff on, develop on, and generally screw around with) so I had those folding over this last weekend. I've also been tweaking with my 2500+ - got the watercooler on it and started to play with the clocks. It did 11x200 @ 1.7V running staying within a degree or two of 40C as ambient fluctuated (down from around 66C running stock speed/voltage with the OEM HSF), and I'm playing with it now at 11.5x200 @ 1.75V, still rock stable. I haven't been able to find much info on the average OC attainable on the FSB for the A7N8X Rev 2.0's, but I had it crash on me at 210FSB after 30 mins in BF1942, so I think I'm near the max there. But I've got a lot more voltage options still available to me and I'm hoping to get at least another 100Mhz out of it before Wednesday. So for the weekend I had a 2300Mhz Barton running most of the time, a P4 @ about 2.6 msot of the time, my work P3 866 slowly chugging along, and 4 P4 2.8's so they would have something to do while I had the weekend off.
But on Wednesday everyone else gets to catch up to all the distance I made on the weekend. My comp as well as the P4 2.6 are getting packed up and hauled off to Fragapalooza and will be there till next Monday again. And as I won't be at work I won't be telling any of the ones there to fold for me. So all that will be left is that 866, slowly chugging away at my desk. I'm kinda hoping though that I can use those 4 P4 2.8's pretty much every weekend, and try and keep my standing fairly close to the top. And come Christmas when we close for two weeks I get to put all the servers into folding mode and make a run for the top spot. |

We passed the 11 million point mark. We passed another team which puts us into 29th spot. We have 35 people with points on the board. Keep up the good work! |
If I can shake this pesky Diablo2 addiction for a couple of hours I will try and get 2 more PCs folding this evening. No guarantees though :)

We are still crunching at a good pace. Not much else to update. :D I will be shutting down D.F. on my comps this afternoon for an indefinate period of time as I need them to help fend of the overclocker on a different project on a different team. This will give some of you a chance to catch up and maybe take over the #1 spot. I will be back crunching again here though when I feel my efforts there are not needed anymore. Crunch on! |
I'm guna be gone for a week...
will have a few machines folding but not as many as usual... I hope to keep my position at #6 but i think i'll loose it... L8R |

Looks like we pased another team and we are now 28th! Also there will be a DF client update on Tuesday, July 22, 2:00 PM EST. it is supposed to update itself so you shouldn't have to do anything but try and check your comps anyway just to make sure the auto update actually worked. This will be a client change only and not a structure change. I decided to keep one of 3 comps on D.F. for now so my output will still continue but will be considerable slower.... |
'nother question...
Is it possible for the Service to not work because of a trajfoldlite.lock file being left from a crash? I'm just wondering, because if you start a client normally, then click the X, you can't start it back up unless you delete the .lock file. So if a computer running it as a service crashed, would you have to delete the .lock file before it'd work? I wish there was a way to add a line to the service, so it'd delete any old .lock file's before it started up again. That would be a sweet precaution. |

Looks like we passed another team today and now in 27th place. Our output is a little low but we are still at a good pace to stay in the top 30 teams overall. Keep it up! |
JayDee, you're slacking! I don't see the 21st or 22nd in your DAILY updates!!! Hehe just kidding, don't sweat it. My box has been down, but I'm working on getting it back up now.

Bad stuff today. Today is the day of the client change and it is screwed up! Check your machines and make sure they updated correctly as it appears there was a lot of problems and still is! http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthr...5&pagenumber=1 http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthr...&threadid=3657 http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthr...&threadid=3658 :( Might be best to completly re-install the new client if your having problems. Mine updated OK it appears but I noticed it is buffering results and not sending them to the server so i would assume the server is down....... Well lets hope anyway because other teams have points on the board were we don't? |
Not sure what to say guys. Looks like were screwed for now.....
|
Everyone download the patch!
Text client: ftp://ftp.mshri.on.ca/pub/distribfol...ldtrajlite.zip Graphic client: ftp://ftp.mshri.on.ca/pub/distribfol...trajlitess.zip Read about it here: http://www.distributedfolding.org/news.html We can still stay within the top 30 if everyone hurrys! |
Well I downloaded the file... stoped my service repaced the.exe with the new file and started again.... there seems to be no problems.... though my other machine will have to wait.
|
The update seems to work fine for me, it hasn't uploaded anything yet, so we'll see...
|
The current download should be fine. I see the majority of out team has yet to discover the problem. i expressed my disapointment in this thread: http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthr...4147#post34147
I hope you guys will not decide to move to something else or quit. We were doing real well! |
All gone poo... won't run as a service :(.
Plus it crashes my computer now... removed till further notice :( That is REALLY annoying. |
im in... might as well..
question, when im folding, my cpu% never goes over 40-45... how can i get this bad boy to 100% all the time... cuz that would help right? |

hi jovetata, welcome to the folding...
thanx good to be here... well, im gonna leave it at this, its at 50% almost stable, and ill take a screen if u tell me how, but thats what its at. if you guys dont know what to do, then ill leave it at this. off to work i go. |

Hi jovetata, welcome to Distributed Folding.... Now, what client are you using? The text or the screen saver version? Are you using DFGUI to monitor whats going on? Is it setup as a service? What OS are you using? Is there any other apps running that would be throtteling the client down? The client is designed to give any other application resource rights. If you have something else taking up 50% of your power then the D.F. client will only run at 50%. How are you monitoring the client usage rate? |
