Using a thermal probe at the side of the CPU, the temps with the waterchill kit as standard were 37/38 at full load. After installing the Zalman block full load temps are now 35, might touch 36 when the room gets a bit warm.

I found this link that has a watercooled gallery.

how well would this person's air-trap method work? it seems like the t-fitting is at the bottom left of the case. the tube comes out of the gpu block and the T splits into air-trap and pump intake.

Nope, no UV going on there but a weird reaction with the lights. What I'm using is Tygon tubing, distilled water with a bit of Zerex antifreeze (5% at most) and a bit of Hy-Per Lube. Both the AF and the HL are green. I have 2 blue cold cathodes and they make the water look nuclear green for some reason, so much so that you can not see through it. If you like the look, I just got lucky and never planned on it.

here is my work in progress.

i still have to paint the top and as you can see from the tennis ball supporting the res i have been experimenting and this was the perfect height.

in the front is a heater core from a vauxhall nova very simular to the chevy ones.

the tube is 1/2 silicon and fits very snug on the barbs no need for clips.
this is currently running with a cascade style block i made.

Here's my third atempt at water cooling. Case is an Antec 830 equal (20.5 " tall) that I painted with Auto Enamel. Chevette heater core, Maze 3 all copper, a NB Block as well and 1/2" Clearflex tubing.

Temps at 80F ambient are 35c light loads 43c under very heavy load 3dmarks looping for example. (Vcore is @ 2.0) Running a 2100 219 x 10.5 on a NF7 2.0.

There is a 120 mm Enermax adjustable fan on the core (at lowest possible RPM setting) two 80 mm fans (NMB MDL#3110) blowing down through the base of the case. (At 12V) I have a 7/12 switch to adjust the two 80's so I can lessen the noise come winter (not that it is loud @12v).

In front of the HD cage is a L1A Panaflo and (2) L1A's blowing out back. This rig is nice and quiet and my first water cool that consumes NO FLUID! This time around I switched from Tygon to Clearflex 60 and used a Hydor L30 instead of an Eheim 1250. No other significant changes so either Tygon leaks or absorbs fluid or Eheims leak very slowly. Or both? I find the Hydor L30 a much nicer pump to work with, the smaller size is a great benefit and it is as quiet as need be.

My new baby

Just finished setting this up last weekend. Heatercore is sidemounted, fresh air is blown into the case and the heatercore sucks some of that air out without adding extra heat to the case. I messed up the panels something fierce cutting the 120mm openings, should have cut from the other side and covered them with tape or something. Getting a rheobus to quiet the fans down a bit. Currently a 2500xp Barton @ 1.875v 200x12 2400mhz. I can do 2500 at 1.95v, but it locks up as soon as I put a load on it, not sure exactly what the culprit is right now, and sometimes the Bios likes to default to 100mhz. Guess I still have some work to do.

Cheers.

whoa, your air trap looks like the blob is in there :)

LeadSalad 08-07-2003 05:44 PM

lol. Heh, it certainly does. It's just the water being pushed up and fountaining forming bubbles at the edges of it. The bubbles in the airtrap also do a little dance up and down and side to side while it's running, but they never get sucked in. Bled the system in about 2-3 hours without shaking the heatercore or anything. Next time I refill the system I'll have to make a drainplug at the point where the pump draws from the trap so I can just empty the entire system without having to jiggle it all around.

wow, nice setup. Yes, i'm too wimpy to do something like that as i always have bottled water laying around my desk.

Zhentar 08-11-2003 12:55 AM

My first watercooling set up, finally working!

I worked really hard on the case.

The otherside of the heatercore has 2 120mm panaflo L1As on it.

Well i found this topic for showing off our water cooled systems. Here are some of my pictures of it.

Here is the picture, where you can probably see the microchanels.

The whole water cooling part.

And final... the pic of the whole system.

The case i have everything in is just temporary. I'm already working on a new custom made huge big tower (70cm x 25 cm x 50 cm) to make it look even better.

Any comments?

siavash_s_s 08-11-2003 04:13 AM

waaaa enyin get a case before you accidently do a belly flop onto your hardware!!

Enyin 08-11-2003 04:12 PM

got case?

haha, you're right siavash_s_s, bellyflop would definitely do some damage - and I always have to tell people not to stick their fingers in the fans omg!!

Actually I like Zhentar's (no)case quite a bit :)
