yes exactly. Not an issue if the inlet is connected directly of via a short straight tube to the res though (as TheXtremeDude has done).

Btw, how exactly do you "prime" a pump when using a res?

(also, what would be a good 1/2id res to use?)

You fill the res with water and then turn the pump on when water's above the inlet :)

Ok, so the water will just spontainiously flow through the tubing and into and through teh pump?

I wouldn't say it was spontaneous. The flow is caused by the pumps compression. Without the pump the water would not flow or circulate through the system. But I will leave that to the lone thermodynamics major who hangs out here to expound upon. LOL

No, i mean when filling teh system, water has to flow through teh pump before it can run (unless its self priming).

Oh I see. Yes, it is a centrifugal pump and cannot pull water from a lower level when run inline. In order to start it must be below water level and "primed" or filled with water. Unless air can escape from the outlet, the pump will not start. When setup correctly the air bleeds out very quickly. I guess you would call it self priming. You fill the res and start the pump and the air bleeds out. I hope that is what you were looking for.

I have not had any problems with leaks, but if you find that you do, that seems like a good solution or fix. I wouldn't do it unless it became needed. Is this supposed to be a common problem with this pump and I have just been lucky? :shrug:
