Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
What does the error log show?
It will help pin point what is generating the error. What size HD instslled 20gigs? |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
*sigh* Sometimes things are easy (and stupid!). I had the disk jumper set for "make my disk only 32 gigabytes" instead of "Master". Without that, the software upgrade was kinda pointless. :( All better now.

What For ? the 4100 does not support large disk,

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
For Windows 2003 active directory
|
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
That is only suported with v4. Where did you find out that 805 supported AD? Adaptec will not even acknowledge the 805 exist.
|
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Are there any other advantages to .805 besides large disk support (and possibly AD support, if the above post is true)?

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Are these new drives? I'm seeing 4 x 30 gig drives.
It could even be a ram related. Use "debug memory" to check amount and use. One is have a problem. The problem it's not telling us which one. Which may be multiple. Re check to make sure all of the cables are fully setted. ANnd the power cables are tight. I have had some loosen up. Look at the connectors make sure they are not turning black. Indications of heating up. Generally you can run a thin screwdriver between the connector and housing to tighten up. Are you using a 4 disk array? Try setting 1 as a hot spare. Then if one fails it will use the spare. |

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree.
How does one make an ISO image of the Snap OS in case of a hard drive failure? I suspect I can make a GHOST File of entire GOOD SNAP OS Disk before I put any Data on it. So I can perform a Sector by Sector GHOST. Any thoughts? SM P.S. I forgot to mention I tried upgrading to v4 for Active Directory functionality. Upgrade would not take. Some error saying "file not valid upgrade for your server". |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Check the wiki section out. It is posted there on how to make a copy of the boot tracks. And how to use the image to setup a new drive.
You have to upgrade with the full version first (4.4.830), then do the 860 patch. BUT if you a one of th older units which store the OS in flash ram, you can't backup after an upgrade. We haven't figured out how to over write it (flashram). Sadowman, what model of snap do you have? |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I am also looking for the Snap OS 3.4.805 please.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Well, first post here, hi all.
I came up to this board while I was lookin' for some info on how to rebuild my Snap 2200 raid 1, and would like to thank all for the precise and very helpful info I found just searching the forum. Problem solved. Cheers apart, I'm running with the following config: Software: 2.2.393 Hardware: 2.0.0 BIOS: 2.0.252 The drives are 2 Quantum lct 30 gig each, I'd like to replace with larger ones. Could anyone please let me know how to upgrade the OS to this 3.4.805? Thanx http://aureliano.ngi.it/img/aureapproved.gif |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
The OS is stored on the HD's. Upgrading drives in the 2200, require the unit to be in RAID1. Then you swap the drives out one at a time. The unit should copy the os over. Or you can use dd to copy the boot tracks to the new drives. Then reformat the drives to use the full disk. If you are going to upgrade the OS do it before the swap.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I have a snapserver 1000 running version 3.2 and the system files are stored on the harddrive. I woud like to support larger harddrives so can someone please provide Snap OS 3.4.805? I'm tempted to go to 4.x, but I've heard that it is slower on older hardware. Thanks!

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
All snaps store the OS's on the HD. Just some have it also in flashram.
What is your BIOS and HW versions? |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I would appreciate anyone's help in obtaining 3.4.805. I have a Snap 2000 with software 3.4.803. I have a 200 GB drive that will only show 130GB or so. My hardware is 1.1.0 and my bios is 1.2.180. Thanks in advance for your help and the great information in the forum.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
By the BIOS & HW version you posted you may have a v1 2000 w/SIMM's, SN <28k. If this is the case 805 may not solve the problem. Only v2 2000 have been able to suceeded.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
HELP PLEASE!
I have a SNAP 4000 running: s/w = 2.3.417 (US) h/w = 2.0.1 BIOS = 2.0.282 I would like to upgrade the OS & BIOS if needed to replace the 30GB drives with 4x250GB drives. Would I need to follow a certian upgrade path? Can anybody share the OS files? Thanks in advance! |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
There are NO upgrades for the BIOS. You will need to boost the ram (min 128) if you install the larger drives. Helps Boost the performace in handling raid 5 and JVM if you are running it. As for OS you are correct with needing 3.4.805 or v4 for large disk support. You are at a version of the OS that will allow you to direct to 805, no need to go to 803 first.
The 4000 stores the OS in flashram, so the upgrade will be easy. I would do the OS upgrade before replacing the drives. That way it will know to use LBA48. Califorina ..... Hummmm. Are you going to have power to run it will all of the rolling blackouts this summer? Or has CA finally figured out they need to allow exploration and build generation plants????? As you neighboring states grow there will be less. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I've got a 705N which actively refuses to accept (even Dell) updates such as 3.4.790 and 3.0 from their site, and spent quite a bit of time on their support line getting this resolved without much success.
sw: 2.4.441 hw: 2.2.1 bios: 2.4.437 Anyone got 3.4.805 from snap, so I can try that before trashing this useless box? I mean, if it refuses to accept genuine delll updates chances of it accepting the snap version are even less, but who knows. reply and/or privmsg me a linky? or email to where i can grab it, thanks. adaptec site is useless, they don't even offer 3.x downloads anymore all they have is some 4.x upgrade which i dont even need. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
The 705N is the same as the 4100, which does not support large disk. 3.4.803 is all you need.
Is the unit booting up? Can you connect via Assist and/or web? Is there any drives installed? Sometimes coming from the earlier version you have to update from Assist, with the later releases from the web update page Is it running Guardian OS or Snap? |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Yeah, I went through all that jazz with dell.
it powers on, i can access it from the web interface, i've tried 3.0 and 3.4 pvassist upgrades from dell. its a 160gb unit, so all 4 drives are installing and operational. every pv-related upgrade from dell fails to install. It is running SnapOS as far as I know (2.4.441). Dell site mentioned I had to upgrade 2.4 to 3.0 first using Assist, then to 3.4 using assist34, anyway I've followed all those things for several weeks now on and off without much success. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Have you done a factory reset prior to installing the upgrade.
