Hummm

The block appears lighter in color. Possibly not milled?

Re: First Ever Pic Of Maze3

:cool:VERY COOL:cool: This will be a modders dream next to the spiral water block!!! Classic looking design utilizing the steped acrylic top with an O-ring.

I wonder how thick the base to water channel area is? This is one major problem I found using a peltier with the spiral and acrylic top. The base of fix's spiral is appx 0.0625"(1/16"). When the pelt is attached with pressure, the base of the water block is thin enough to bow upward causing pressure on the acrylic top. One of the reasons why my top cracked. ;)

can be straight water or single pelt
expect roughly same pricing as the maze 2

will be ready for sale next week, the lazer cut tops need to come in, but there is ample supply of the blocks themselves.

personally I quite like it, the texturing on the bottom, the triangle over the core, all seems really really cool.

btw, I'm the first person outside of DDen to see it, and the next person to see this thread is the 2nd person. Consider it a privilage

Heavy_Equipment 03-22-2002 07:52 PM

I've never used the 4-hole mounting, so I wasn't upset at the news it wasn't part of the specs anymore.

Now I see the maze 3.
Now I want the maze 3.
Now I want the holes to stay.

...conspiracy?

UnaClocker 03-22-2002 09:04 PM

The inside looks sandblasted.. it doesn't have a milled look to it..

Joe 03-22-2002 09:18 PM

Yeh Una I was just about to post that

Either that or its sand cast copper. The complexity of the design would lead me to believe its cast. No one would run a mill for that long to make those small ridges in the bottom for mass mfg. I mean thats a whole lotta work for a lil pay back.

from the WBRU you can see that a cast copper block doesnt do to bad... look how Cool Computers did!

UnaClocker 03-22-2002 09:22 PM

Mmm, Would that mean they're outsourcing the block making? Or did they learn/already know how to cast copper? It just seems like it's alot more work to cast copper when you have a perfectly happy mill right there.. But maybe it is easier.. Maybe they can make more of them, faster that way.. Pretty cool..

Fixittt 03-22-2002 09:32 PM

well it looks good. I hope they do well with it. I see more and more people going to the clear tops every day. I think its great!

Looks like they are using the same method as me in the tops. The step that the o ring fits around. It works really good.

Good Job DD. keep it up.

now. just for a little heads up. Me and D-tek will be rteleasing a new version of the Spir@l hopefully early this next month. (Shhh, its a secret)

Yes, the edges are way to sharp to be casted only. It must be sand blasted to get that nice finish though. Very nicve job on it!!!

I disagree, you can get very sharp edges now with casts for copper.

Modern casts molding is pretty damn good, but I don't think it is that good. Moot point though as it is said it was milled.

Cyco-Dude 03-22-2002 11:06 PM

well damn, i hope they can keep up with demand!

Techguy 03-22-2002 11:15 PM

ok. it's time 4 Joe to test finish testing the maze2, spir@l, and now the maze3 and Spir@l2.

So manny choices!

Very cool look on the maze3, wonder how the spir@l2 will look and how quickly it'll ship.

Joe 03-22-2002 11:28 PM

Hey TechGuy.

Come on over and test em while I am at work for me please!

.... my work doesnt like me setting up stuff that looks like a meth lab on my desk. and also my cooling system has been taken apart and is in boxes already for when I move.

Brad 03-22-2002 11:43 PM

it could be bead blasted to get that finish, or spark errosion could be used.

stevo's LED P4 block uses spark errosion in the centre of it. Which reminds me, I wonder what the maze3 would look like with led's in it

Joe 03-23-2002 12:11 AM

LED's? how about some TypeR stickers? or maybe tint the lexan with limo tint :)

Brad 03-23-2002 03:55 AM

DDen Maze3 Type R. Complete with tinted top, and annodised screws

Gladly!!!:D After all, I am a high school studend that has a LOT of free time. I love Senioridous!
But there is that onelittle detail... you live in Waukesha, WI, and I live in suwanee, GA.

Too bad I don't have the handy-dandy testing setup that you have, or I'd be more than willing to test them.

(I currently don't have a real PC but this summer I'll have the best one 5K can buy! (graduation gift and I'm chippin in about 2.5K if I have/want to)

now if you ship the cooling setup....::D

Mankul 03-23-2002 12:02 PM

Brad, can you suggest to DDen to make the maze 3 deeper? ... I mean with taller height? so that the water channel can take in more volume. Something like Spir@l.... deep channels... :D I think this is the only drawback of maze3.... shallow channels...

Thanks!

Jason-Pro 03-23-2002 01:32 PM

lol ive got some left over 5% limo black tint and some Anodized screws for my RC car maybe ill turn my maze 3 into a type R :P rofl

Techguy tell Dtek to get my hd block out rofl :)

Brad 03-23-2002 01:34 PM

hehe ok, I'll go tell DDen they need to make it thicker. I think it is 1/2" now, would 5/8" be good?

jaydee 03-23-2002 01:56 PM

Maybe we should see some results before we speculate drawbacks?
