Could be any reason. Random material failure, bad luck, the deivine hand of fate and so on. Until I see two similar cases I always assume its a fluke. This is no exception.

Quick question, is the Maze3 Cu top soldered?

Kevin 06-15-2002 12:55 AM

Not to be the sore spot in this discussion, but...

So I threw away my receipt. Big deal what would I need to return out of that?
That was your downfall right there.

DarkEdge 06-15-2002 01:20 AM

Believe me I know. I fully blame myself for throwing away the reciept. I'm not upset with the company on the standard that they wouldn't exchange it, well sorta. They were very unprofessional though, and rude. I can't ****ing tolerate that in a company. It may of just been the employee I was dealing with though.

pHaestus 06-15-2002 08:31 AM

Nah I have heard similar horror stories about people having problems with getting orders from them (rude customer service and poor satisfaction with them). I don't deal with them personally after hearing that they paid people for posting links to their products on forums. That just seems a bit too unethical for my tastes. Besides, cooltechnica always has Dangerden in stock and Bruce is a great guy to deal with.

DarkEdge 06-15-2002 09:36 AM

This was the first time I shopped there. Normally I shop at AxionTech, they resell danger den stuff as well. There prices are always lower then Directron and are professional. One building for returns, service and genreal problems, then they have there building for sales. Not to mention there warehouse. They have a big lot :)

The case I bought rox. I had to change the gold to chrome though :(

BTW don't know if anyone has seen the frozencpu lazer cut lady grills but I got mine in a couple days ago and they rock. I love feelin those nipples!

Cyco-Dude 06-15-2002 01:45 PM

lol, i think they look like crap. plus theyre made from aluminum? seems kinda flimsey....ill take my PCmods stainless grill ty hehehe

First, Darkedge sorry to hear about the failure of the Maze3 and your componets.

Gee, I don't drop in here for a few weeks and the Maze 3 has a copper top, and now leaks are appearing in the clear top versions.

I had one of the early Maze3's that had the cracks emerging from the bolt holes due to counter sinking and/or bad design. Had concern then and still now about the block.

I also stated my maze3 cooled no better than the Maze2. Guess it is time to quickly remove the Maze3 and reinstall the Maze2.

Has anyone converted a clear top Maze3 to a copper top?
Jim

DarkEdge 06-17-2002 08:45 PM

I havn't converted and I don't plan to. I was hoping the top would be soldered. According to DangerDen its going to mount the same way as the clear tops.

I do think its better then the clear because it won't crack, but at the same time I think it still has the downfall og the clear tops because it uses the o-ring.

My concerns though are based on my own experience. I believe, and others do that my case was simply a fluke. I will continue to buy/use DangerDen products because they are a great company.

Jim 06-17-2002 08:54 PM

Well,
Had no problems with the Maze2, as far as the Maze3 is concerned I never thought it was worth the money or now as I have discovered, the risks.

Does DD sell the Maze2 anylonger?
Jim

I've been looking up some info here:
http://www.heatercore4u.com/tt.pdf

It seems that heater cores can withstand up to 50 psi, and it is recommended to test then with 25-30 psi testing apparatus.

I was thinking about this then realized that that's what might have caused DarkEdge's leak: the rad failed, because of the 700 gph pump.

DarkEdge? Do you have a bicycle pump? I've got an idea...

maskedgeek 06-18-2002 10:25 PM

your pump will put out like 1psi max, btw i soldier everything into my blocks to make sure it dont leak, i wish the companies that produce these would do that...

DarkEdge 06-18-2002 11:24 PM

The radiators don't leak, if they did the water would be coming out of them at my friends rig right now. I gave him all my parts. Even though its a 700gph pump its not going to produce more then 10-15psi. The hydrothruster will produce more psi. It increases it all the way up to 10psi if needed.

morphling1 06-19-2002 04:35 AM

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if 1 psi = 6895 Pa = 0.06895 Bar, and if for example Eheim model 1250 Hmax is 2m = 2 bars, from which you must substract preasure drops in your system which let say are around 1bar, that means that pump still produce around 1bar of preasure, which equals 14.5 psi.
A lot more than 1psi max right maskedgeek.

I think the pressure of "Im of water" converts to 1.420913 psi .

Try ,for example, this converter: http://www.ibdprince.com/metric.shtml

morphling1 06-19-2002 08:04 AM

Ups, yeah I made I big mistake 1m of water is 0.1 bar, and then 1.45 psi, sorry for mistake, you were right maskedgeek ;)

DarkEdge 06-20-2002 12:05 PM

****. Well I recieved my new DD maze 3. It has the new copper top. Something I did ask for. The bad news is that I never got a response back from them, didn't know if it had shipped or if they needed any more information.

I also had asked info about the maze3 and such witht he copper tops. I assumed I was going to get a reply back.

Well heres my problem. I need it for socket 478. I think they sent an amd one because I lined it up with my friend SoyoDragon Plus mb holes and they are a perfect fit.

What is the diffrence? What do I need to do to make it work?

BTW they gave me free tygon!

morphling1 06-20-2002 02:07 PM

You unfortunatly can't modifiy amd top to fit on P4. its to small dimensions for P4 holes are this:
http://www2.arnes.si/~mlivak/holes500.gif

DarkEdge 06-20-2002 02:32 PM

Well what about a thick lexan clear clamp top. I made one for my maze 1 when i broke the lugs off the motherboard. If the maze3's are the same for both blocks and just have diffrent mounting holes then it should work right?

pumps can easily put out more than 1 psi:
http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/sho...&threadid=3366

It all comes down to the effective flow rate.

morphling1 06-20-2002 02:56 PM

Yes,that will work, the block is the same, just make new top with those hole dimensions for P4

DarkEdge 06-20-2002 03:00 PM

Nice. I thought so. BTW how did you come up with that picture so fast. I remember seeing that picture somewhere but I couldn't locate it through searching. Thanks gor the help.

morphling1 06-20-2002 06:34 PM

No problem
I had it saved on my disk and just upload it on my server, it was originaly posted by gone_fishin on overclockers forum.
