But I'm getting old. I love my Skylark. And the jerk of kids fart pipe across the street pissed me off and whats the point ofe the sloppy clutch effect gear ratios. Anchorage roads are NOT built for that crap. I actually saw one stuck in the middle of an intersection.

My wife drives a full size truck. one of the ricers with a big ass/tall spoiler pulled up next to her, she put her McDonalds trash on it like a drive up shelf.

Don't get me wrong, I like imports but I think some of the things they do to them is ridiculous.

Umm... I know of QUITE a few 10 second imports, and even a few 9 second ones...

Straight line isnt what it used to be. the light imports can get up and boogy with the big boys if they want to, and have the money.

Also the "show" aspect of the import scene is rather played out... its nothing but a bunch of highschool "gangsta'z" now ( or Icy Hot Stuntaz if you prefer) now who think cause they got some chome, some 19" rims, far pipe action, neon, or any other gaudy weight adding crap on their machine.. its instantly the most bad ass race car ever invented.

I am all about the sleeper.. something that seems very low key and tame, but when you light it up, it screams! There are a few sleeper 2.5RS's around... one pulls almost 400 Hp... and pisses off WRX drivers all the time :) They cant understand how they were just WHOOOOOPED by a 2.5RS. Same thing with the mullet croud out there.. people in 1986 IROC Z Camaro's ( pure wife beater material here baby!), thinking the 305 under the hood will OWN any rice thing out there... then before they can get the peddal to the floor the rice has smoked them by 4 car lengths.

while on the topic, I just had a V8 top end Tacoma TRD truck beat me in a bit of a run on race :)

I was trying to merge onto this road, and the truck sped up to not let me in, so I gunned it and driving on the shoulder, I was nose to nose with the truck up to 90 Mph... then the truck pulled on me and was ahead of me by 100 Mph. ( trust me.. if I didn't have AutoX experience with this car I doubt I coulda kept it straight at 100 Mph with 2 wheels just touching gravel... Kids dont try this at home... its stupid)

anyway, so its a big shocker, a truck with 250+ hp and a nice low RPM high torque V8 beat a Flat 4 165Hp car over 90 Mph hehehe She was a dumb bitch anyway, she wasnt watching where she was going and after I let off the gas and merged far behind her, she almost back ended a semi at that speed...

Word to the wise, when you are driving stupid, atleast keep an eye out for the innocent!! or atleast keep looking forward. Women + Trucks + high speeds = disaster waiting to happen...

About nice cars, the U.S. have produced its lots of very nice looking cars. I like the Corvette the most.
Toyota Supra, Honda NSX, Nissan Skyline R34, Corvette ZR-1, Aston Martin DB7, those are my dream cars :)
I would really like to test drive a Mazda RX-7, these cars are awesome.

What i'm looking for is nice *stock* looks (no "bling-bling" mods), good acceleration, great handling, and most of all, fun. And the 'lude is a fun car indeed. Drives like a toy or a video game !

I am 16 and I listen to the Who, AC/DC, Aerosmith. I also listen to country music so its not saying a lot for you guys I guess. I must admit if I could I would get a TT Stealth or 3000GT. I still like the Dodge Avenger for its looks not is "power". I would like to get one and make it RWD and put a 350 in it :). Don't laugh cause you may see it someday.

Except for the actuall Altezza they are coppied from ( the lexus IS300 is called the Altezza over seas)

And Joe your comment about the IROC people..... couldn't be more right. The 305 is the second worst V8 Chevy has produced pretty much ever. The Worst being the 307 which is pretty much a Big Block engine but only 307cui. I can't stand 2nd and 3rd generation Firebirds and Camaros. 1st and 4th is the only place to be. I need to find a 4th gen firebird to park next to my dad's 1st gen firebird. I would take a 305 Iroc over most ricers though. I would take most modern Subies or a Stealth or and Avenger over it. Like I said I still just like the looks of the Avenger(when its not riced!)

What do you all consider a fart pipe? A loud muffler? One that sounds like a weed-eater? One with a 4" tip?


I personally had stock muffler problems (nasty rattling) so I put on a "performance" muffler. It isnt loud, or harsh sounding. It doesnt sound like a weed-eater when my car hits 8000rpm. It is a low sound, but I know some people would consider it a fart pipe just because of its 4"tip.

I think some people just group a larger tip with a "fart-pipe"

nope 4" tips normally put you in the ricer category with a "rice pipe"

I didnt buy it for any performance. That wasnt the point. I bought it for its sound just like someone with a mustang would buy a flowmaster for the sound.

I define a ricer as someone who doesnt have a clue what actual performance is derived from and puts altezzas and a big aluminum wing on their car thinking it will be worth at least 10 ponies.

I guess we were ahead of our time in high school. :D

I had a Turbo 400 muffler on my 4-banger Chev Monza. Those muffler's gave the V8's a nice low rumble...on my car it sounded high and whiney.

The most annoying of our group...my friend's '86 VW Rabbit with a Glass Pack. It sounded like a chainsaw, and it popped and gurgled on the downshifts.

At least my car got quiet when I lifted the throttle, that Rabbit got stopped all the time for noise.

yall need to stop by my school. Give us a few minutes and you won't hear those fart pipes anymore :). Open header V8s all around sort of kill that evil bee in a coffee can sound. Less and less V8s though. More and more bees. ANd turbo mufflers don't give a good rumble. I hate turbo mufflers. They have crap for flow and crap for sound. Flowmaster 40 series, glasspacks, and Dynomax race mufflers are it for me.
