my calf is only 13.5", thats 2 inches larger than my bicep. How about this, how many of you have a big farmer muscle? There is prolly a technical term but all the rednecks I know call it a farmers muscle. You make a 90 with your arm, then flex you arm and turn your them towards your chest. Look at your elbow if you don't see anything special you don't have a big farmers muscle if you see a big bulge you do. You get if from, lifting and throwing hay bails, shoveling, and hammering mostly. I have pretty big ones but a few of my friends are bigger. I know guys who are champion weight lifters that don't even have them. My farmers muscle protrudes like 3/4" from the rest of my arm when I flex, if I had a working camera I would take a pic of it(damn mom dropped it in the toilet)

ECUPirate 08-16-2002 11:38 AM

hmmm... you weren't very clear... what do you do? flex out to the side w/ 90degree elbow, and then what? Rotate so your forearm is parallel to the ground, palm down....? I did that and I have a bulge at the elbow. The muscle is part of the forearm and governs your wrist motion... palm facing down, curl your wrist up and back. You can see it also if you hold your arm straight out to the side, palm down.

...or is the muscle you're talking about part of the tricep (back of arm)?

Sled_Dog 08-16-2002 01:16 PM

thats it and you have the method right. not everyones is a large noticable bump.

utabintarbo 08-16-2002 04:00 PM

I guess its true how the media portrays most computer geeks (a la whats-his-name from the Lone Gunmen)!:) I seem to go against the type tho' - 21" biceps cold with 38" thighs. People tend to move out of my way, but I can never find off-the-rack (read inexpensive) clothes. But people also think I am about 10 yrs. younger than I am, so that's kind of nice!

Sled_Dog 08-16-2002 04:06 PM

I am little but I don't back down. People are usually thrown by that and just give up. Like kids at school who try and start shit with my I just get right back in there faces and tell them I am not afraid of them. They usually don't know what to think and just go away.

ECUPirate 08-16-2002 08:43 PM

Um, dude, I measured around my hips... that's around the biggest part of my butt and my hips, and I was only 39.5". You say you powerlift, cool. 38" thighs are monstrous. How tall are you, what do you weigh, and what r u lifting? trucks? :)

Sled_Dog 08-16-2002 09:01 PM

good point, that seems a big large I would say.

big dudes dont need an excuse ;p

ECUPirate 08-16-2002 10:20 PM

Ok, at the thickest, I'm 24.5" at the thigh. I was measuring close to the knee earlier.

17... congrats. You're getting there. Good luck w/ college ball. Any idea where you want to play?
Pullups, rows, and shrugs w/ no wrist straps will bulk up your forearms.... anything where you have to hang on to weight.

6'3", 280 lbs. I lift heavy barbells and dumbbells, many, many times. It doesn't hurt that I sit in front of a computer most every day. Keeps me from losing all my manly girth, eh?

ECUPirate 08-17-2002 10:43 AM

I think most of us found out the answer to that age old question years ago. :)

My last spam thread, "drunk as hell, but no throwin' up", had tons of views, but I think Joe deleted it because it was getting out of hand. ...It mysteriosly vanished.

Heavy_Equipment 08-17-2002 12:32 PM

I had to un-subscribe myself from that damn BRUCES! thread too...I don't want to know who's replying to that damn thing, OR why.

:)

ECUPirate 08-17-2002 02:22 PM

hehe.... I'm still subscribed. :)

I hear you...just turned 31 this year, and I have the first "gut" I've ever had.

I can still flex up the six pack...but this new layer just "appeared" overnight.

I guess it's just nature...

older members of the herd plump up and slow down, makes it easier for the take down. :D

ECUPirate 08-23-2002 09:28 PM

you want to lose weight? go to work for a moving company. I just moved this past week. I packed the truck by myself. It took forever. When I got to DC, I called up some movers and they came out and unloaded it. One of em was a young guy; skinny, but pretty strong. The other was older... maybe mid 30s to 40, thin, and strong as an ox. ..no fat, so far as I could see. I lost weight too.

Did that when I was in my mid-20's (about 105 lbs. ago). More money in sitting on your ass in front of a computer. :D That is partially what I owe my present svelte profile to. The rest is "fork curls". Oh well...
