Yeah they did :D, but I can't believe that those steppings can't be found in US, I will look for gems when they get any new shipments though.

Blackeagle, 100% is practicaly imposible here, maybe on a very cold day I can get flash overclock just with CPUID shot of close to that, I'll try :D but first I must unlock those upper mp's because my memory was streched to limits in last run

If that's true I'm doing this tomorrow :D
nicozeg thanks

Nono, that 100 ohm resistor does the same job as reconecting the bridge, so it's only needed in case U want to go back to the low range, or switch easily between both. there's no way to enable the full range at the same time if the mobo dont support it.

If I'd was you, I'll never go back to the low mp. At that fsb, without a /6 pci divider, I fear a short live to your HD. Sorry, but I had a traumatic data loss when running pci at 44 mhz.

morphling1 01-19-2003 10:06 AM

Ah thats good to so I guess I need to find that pin.
You got any good pin layout pic.

Here it is, taken from AMD specs (where its labeled as nc pin)

morphling1 01-19-2003 05:20 PM

Thanks a million nicozeg I'll try that tomorrow and then its go time again looks like it will be chilly :D

nicozeg 01-19-2003 09:20 PM

Something tells me that you're going to build a water chiller before the summer arrives :D

morphling1 01-20-2003 02:03 AM

Damn. What are you a mind reader :D

g.l.amour 01-20-2003 05:51 AM

weird that overclockers.com states that the J'z are no good. haven't seen em say that about any post week '50 proc. the bad ones seem to be JUICB instead of your JUIHB.

Blackeagle 01-20-2003 10:29 AM

Please disregard my last post re:doubling the chips rate. While I am impressed with your O/C efforts (you've gone farther already that anyone in a long time has on water.) I don't want to see you damage/destroy your chip. And I regret making that comment and apoligize for having done so.

I get cought up in the moment at times.

A great chip and block combined for a amazing O/C ! !

Congrats. (We need a smilie of a toast, you deserve one.) :D

airspirit 01-20-2003 12:21 PM

I just picked up a 1700+ from Newegg and received it today.

Codes:
AXDA1700UT3C 9268916261426
JIUCB 0251SPMW

I guess when I build the latest machine (tomorrow with midrange air cooling on an 8RDA+) I'll find out what this bad bastard can do combined with some XMS3200 DDR luvin.

I can't wait ... if all goes well, I may have to order another one and swap this one into my home machine ... heheheehehheheheheheheheheheh arrrg!

airspirit 01-20-2003 12:46 PM

I don't know that I'll be able to get much sleep tonight ... I just confirmed that the rest of the kit is coming in tomorrow and I am horribly tempted to throw this thing on my KT4 I have sitting here and punch it through the roof ... it is almost too much temptation to bear. Don't know if I can make it ... must resist.

I can't exactly light the boss's new CPU on fire, can I?

g.l.amour 01-20-2003 01:22 PM

yes u can, ur forummembers also have a right to know what that lil cpu does.

jtroutma 01-20-2003 08:28 PM

heheheheh....BURN IT!!! BURN IT!!!! YOU MUST BURN IT!!! FOR THE FORUMS!!!!!! :D:D:D

morphling1 01-21-2003 06:48 PM

Yep I can't believe but I'm air cooled

I couldn't wait until I was finnished, but my cutting tool became dull so I couldn continue but anyway here it is almost finished.

http://www2.arnes.si/~mlivak/Air%20c...0air%20005.jpg

Still need to make shroud and finish cross cutts
I'm just testing that other 1700+ I'm currently at 2250 MHz 1,85V air cooled prime95 stable :D pretty good temps are 33°C with 20°C room in socket diode on my old 8kha+ I will try higher overclocking soon with higher voltage too, but I need to unlock that 13 and up multy because I can't realy get stable past 180 on this mobo.

I'm waiting for 8RDA+ rev2, so this air cooling will go on 8k3a.
Can someone notice I'm an Epox fan :D

Airspirit so how did it go, how did it go, I hope you didn't chickened out :D

nicozeg 01-22-2003 09:34 AM

And do you have the slk800 to compare results?

This design seems to require a fan with more backpressure than common, you could try it with a centrifugal blower.

airspirit 01-23-2003 09:50 AM

HERE ARE THE RESULTS (thusfar):

-- JIUCB 0251 --

1700+ TbredB @ 2002, 1.725V
256MB Corsair XMS3200 C2 @ 167, 2-2-2-4, 2.9V
EPoX 8RDA+ w/ stock NB cooler
Vantec 6040 copper HSF, low spd fan

Since we all know that the stock cooler on the 8RDA+ severely limits overclockability and general stability, the numbers aren't final. I'll be putting a Vantec Copper Iceberg on the sucker tomorrow (as well as a SB heatsink), and I expect to get over 2200 Mhz on mediocre air cooling once it is installed (without a better cooler, the NForce2 boards are EXTREMELY unstable and will refuse to OC very well).

I'm loving it, and the person I built the workstation for (isn't it nice to be able to OC the f*ck out of other people's machines???), is loving it even more, and will probably cream their panties when I boost the speed and FSB some more (this RAM can handle 2-2-2-4 at over 190, tested). The JIU*B 0251 chips are winners, and they are now less than $50 at Newegg ... I have another one in the mail to go into another workstation, and that one should be built on Monday ... good times.

tim-may 01-23-2003 11:18 PM

@ airspirit
are these the ones on newegg that are labeled as XP1700 TBredA's for $50 (AXDA1700DLT3C)? just want to be sure....thinking about buying one

msv 01-24-2003 12:58 AM

Well, Morphling... eh, thats pretty serious OC.
*Darned* good WB! Impressive!
One question: Do you have any cooling on memory or northbridge? 217 MHz (if I didn´t get it all wrong) FSB sounds quite aggresive to me.
regards
Mikael S.

jtroutma 01-24-2003 01:45 AM

Something tells me that Newegg is going to get a swarm of new orders here within the next few days........ :)

Count me IN!!! :D

$46.99 shipped today at newegg! http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...103-351&DEPA=1

I am buying one. Don't care if it OC's well or not, that is still a good price!

Yeah NB is watercooled, and memory is Corsair with original heatsinks, but I manage to unlock 13 mp so now I can start same 3dmark benchmark runs with more agressive mem timings (yep I'm one of those nuts). Currently 2663 MHz 2.05V 19°C water folding 24/7

If I'm not mistaken N8 bought his 1700+ at newegg, and they are the same stepping as my JIUHB, he's not complaining one bit :)

BrianW 01-24-2003 10:16 PM

Is this the product you all are refering to? AMD Athlon XP 1700+ Thoroughbred /266 FSB Processor CPU 1700+/ 1.47GHz -OEM, AXDA1700DLT3C @ www.newegg.com?

Would u suggest retail or oem?

Thanks,

Brian W

morphling1 01-25-2003 05:13 PM

No, don't buy that that's a tbread A, DLT3C . You need to find DUT3C, the difference is in voltage also tbred A stepping and with A, and tbreds B steppings end with B. But the order code should be AXDA1700DUT3C

tim-may 01-25-2003 11:04 PM

i hate to disagree with you morphling, but read the reviews people are putting up here. They are ordering the TBredA's and getting shipped JUICB 0251 TBredB's for 50 bucks. i just got my order in for one, cant wait till pay day to get a a7n8x deluxe to overclock that chip like a mofo....

jtroutma 01-25-2003 11:26 PM

Morphing1: It is true (for the most part). Newegg has been shipping JIUCB TbredB cores when the site states that it is a TbredA core. Airspirt and a few other have confirmed this. HOWEVER, if they ship you order one of these and you get a TbredA, you got what you payed for.

Its a crap shoot and even I am risking it :D

I ordered mine from Newegg on Thursday and am aniously awaiting to see if I get a TbredB.

Lets hope that Neweggs stock of TbredB's dont run out anytime soon :)

morphling1 01-26-2003 06:01 AM

I was just replying about the codes, and that one was tbredA. But I'm wondering something else. How come everyone is buying from Newegg, aren't there any local computer shops where you can check for inventory and codes before buying, here in Slovenia I can do that in every shop :)

tim-may 01-26-2003 12:45 PM

well....at the Fry's Electronics in Sacramento, you have to get a printed out quote from the people at the componets sections...take that printout and go to the checkout line, the checker take that paper to the guy in the chain-link box where they have memory and cpu's and such there and you get whatever he randomly picks out. Im not sure if you can request a certain core/stepping becuase i have only bought an xp1700 from them way back in the days when i didnt know jack shit about overclocking.

EDIT: just wanted to add that local shops around where i live are just junk dealers...only things they have are p2 300's and 5.25" floppy drives....

jtroutma 01-26-2003 03:43 PM

Pifffffff............ local shops around here!?!??!

They would easily try and charge me 2-3 times what Newegg is selling it for. Also most local shops dont know a Tbird from a Palimino from a Tbred. They just know its a x.xxGhz CPU and that's it.

I dont have a Frys anywhere close to me and quiet honestly I wouldnt go there and buy parts even if they were cheaper than Newegg. I have heard too many horror stories of firends and co-workers getting a steal from Frys, just to have it blow up in their face a few weeks later.

I have done a considerable amount of business with Newegg and they have YET to dissapoint me :) (not to mention that overnight shipping for the price of ground is always nice :D )

morphling1 01-26-2003 03:58 PM

Uff, I never would have thought that this could be situation in US.
I also haven't heard anything bad about newegg, just to bad they don't ship internationaly.

And check this out I still haven't finnished with this tbred :D
http://www2.arnes.si/~mlivak/Benchmarks/record2805.GIF
Case on the window with cool air going through my rad. 1.2°C water for the test. And they said that on thursday we'll have a cold front comming :) Maybe I can catch that 100% oc. which would be pretty spectacular with water cooling.

jtroutma 01-27-2003 08:19 PM

Well.....I just got my Tbred from NewEgg. See for yourselves......

AMD Athlon
AXDA1700DLT3C 4143557260090
AIUGA 0242MPM @1999AMD

Looks like I missed out on the CPU lottery.

Damn......I was really looking forward to 2Ghz+

At least it was not a complete disapointment. I still got my minature portable 40Gb HDD w/ USB2.0 and FireWire support :)
