I tried out all the colors I bought, and the only ones that would really be worth using are green and yellow, the two colors that I liked the least. Blue hardly glowed at all, and orange was mediocre, certainly nothing special. I think that I'll just order some blue UV dye somewhere online instead, I doubt I can figure a way to make that highlighter fluid glow any brighter.

Bought some UV Dye from Checker auto parts last night for $4 and I got 2 containers for that price. The stuff is Brownish/red like the Tracer Line and it glows very strong with just 2 or 3 drops. I asked the girl there and she said it has been on the shelf for a while, but it did not loose it kick.

So I will be using this for now.

Blue uv dye, from my understanding does not last as long as the yellow/green. Dtekcustoms.com does have the blue you search for.

I have tested the blue from Dtec but really it was nothing special. Some drops (as said in their site) do completely nothing. I had to put enough to just see some color. Also with 3 uv cold cathodes the liquid wasnt bright at all. I have also tested 3 more uv blue dyes from watercooling.de and from pclincs.co.uk but neither they worked...
I think i will try this highlighter trick.

The best dye I have come accross is the UV dye for radiator testing from Checker Auto parts store.

Also the highlighter dye is very strong but maybe to strong for pump drive. Im guessing here and have no facts to stand by. Its just when I smell the UV mixture from highlighter, it smells strong. Hmmmmmmm.

And when I smell the dye from Checkers, nothing.

I made a order from some dye from another company and waiting on them.

What color is the dye you picked up at Checker? I'd like to go with either blue, or orange if I can. Green is rather boring IMO.

If you are looking for something to glow blue, you guys might want to try Rit Whitener and Brightener... you can find it with the other laundry detergents in most grocery stores (I found some at K-mart also). The stuff definately glows blue, but it's not as bright as some of the other UV dyes (like hilighter or leak detector dyes). I don't know if it'd mess up your pump, but i'd assume it wouldn't be that great for it, especially since you need a decent concentration to make it bright.

I am using it, instead, to paint my clear fans... I mix the Rit with a clear coat paint (nothing with UV protection) and paint the fans... then they glow bright under UV, but are clear the rest of the time. Sorry, no digicam to show the pix..

The dye from checker is brown/red in a bottle. Its the only thing they have thats UV for radiators. It glows Yellow/green under UV and looks green during day.

I prefer the checker uv dye b/c it is safe.
Im not sure if the highlighter dye will have a effect on magnet drive shaft.
Plus checker uv dye is so strong, the strongest I have seen yet.

The Highlighter dye is very strong almost, chemically. It will clean copper to a very good shine. Now what happens to other metals is my concern.

So far my test have revealed that nothing is bothered by this highlighter dye.

Clean it only, or does it corrode it?

Well I just took the plunge and rebuilt my system with a AquaCoil II Rad and used my home made Highlighter UV dye and WOW, nice bright green and all is good Now.

I put an extra mag drive shaft into solution for testing and it did not bother it, also some copper pennies. test went well for a week. Now Im using it in system.

As much as people have used all sorts of different dye's and such, NOTHING I have seen can compare with Dye Lite. (the original stuff I used in DH3.. you know the thing that started the whole "glowing coolant" deal on the web? ;)

hehehe you can get it at most automotive places because its used for coolant leak detection. Its far more bright than any highlighter concentration I have seen, same with woolite.

Yes I have dye lite also. Ran test. If you use like 4 or 5 drops it promotes algae growth, that pink stuff in tubes. It breaks down easier than my highlighter dye.
That highlighter dye does not seem to budge.

Well you are using too much thats why. 2 drops is the max you should use in an entire gallon jug, any more than that and it over saturates and starts to turn a dull orange in your lines.

Also thats why you should use anti bio stuff in your lines also. I have a gallon of coolant, and coolant in a machine (Pro/Mini) that has been there for over 2.5 years.. and it still glows today just as much as it did the day I mixed it.

You are more experienced than me but I ran test and the highlighter dye does me justice with no chance of algae growth that my test revealed. Test done for a month. Actually the highlighter dye cleans copper like a jewelery cleaner almost and has not damage mag drive shaft. And needs very little UV light to glow strong.

If my highlighter dye fails me I will try the dyelite with one drop in my system.

Good to hear success w/ UV dye. I was beginning to doubt the whole concept.

Rad makes the world of difference w/ UV dye.

I was using a Dtek Heatercore but it was like a UV water filter for me. I tried 2 of them. UV dye would get trapped in there, at bottom. Water would turn crystal clear after 3 days. Take heatcore out of sys and empty into sink and there's all my UV dye.

Now AquaCoil II works great for UV dye, just that temps got 3 degree warmer.

Dual fan may solve my problem though, Im running single fan now on AquaCoilII.
