maybe it seems out of topic....

but does anyone here knows the dimensions of a northwood proc die without its heat spreader (naked)

Got an Ati AIW 9700 Pro and ripped the HS/Fan off of it and broke out my calipers... :D

I'm still adding dimensions and keepouts for a water cooling solution... The "Keep Out" areas are VERY tall... ¼" or so... the smaller orange colored boxes are taller components that match the height of the GPU Shim from the board... these would need recesses milled into a block to clear due to the lower height of the RAM. RAM and GPUs are represented on the front view by the red squares.

I'll post the front again when I get dimensions on it...

Edit: Added a picture overlay... this is how I verified my measurements and actual component locations. :p

i maded a sapphire 9700np model in truespace3, its a bit similar to the above one, i used it to do a few designs for a gpu block.

Here is the front and edge of the Ati All-in-wonder 9700 Pro... haven't got the back done with measurements yet... The smaller "Keep Out" areas are the same height as the GPU shim as noted. :D

Note: I had to use .PNG format to save space... I can export to .DXF and .DWG or provide the original Visio drawings.

ChrioN 02-16-2004 02:20 PM

MMZ_TimeLord: do you know if regular 9700's have the same positioned components as the aiw?

MMZ_TimeLord 02-16-2004 04:25 PM

No I do not... can't confirm it as I do not have a regular 9700 Pro...

All I can say is if anyone DOES have one... get out a pair of calipers and start measuring against my drawings.

ChrioN 02-16-2004 04:37 PM

hell yeah! :D

So how do you mount a waterblock if you want it big enough to cool all the components? Do you need 1 on each side and then press them together?

MMZ_TimeLord 02-17-2004 10:17 AM

Check here ... I've designed a cooling solution for my All-in-Wonder 9700 Pro.

This is just my preference. You can get away with only cooling the GPU if the original card only had a HS/Fan on the GPU and no heatsinks on the RAM.

can someone who has a dual opteron mobo confirm this sizes. its a MSI K8T Master 2 FAR Mobo. dual opteron thanks in advance

R4fo 02-27-2004 06:55 AM

how to make a 1:1 scale drawing - print and then drill the holes?

ChrioN 02-27-2004 09:09 AM

so some opteronboards uses the same measures as the older slotA. wierd.

Groth 02-27-2004 09:57 AM

For some strange (really, really strange) reason, MSI chose to ignore AMD specification and give the K8T-Master2-FAR P4-style heatsink retention (which voids the warranty for retail processors).

Check the socket-423 spacing in the picture at the beginning of the thread.

JeffPH 02-27-2004 10:19 AM

thanks guys so i can use the socket 423? hehe thanks a lot guys

try a cad program.
I use ACad to create an acurate template for shrowds.

id like to know what is the position of the mounting hole from the center of the core

MMZ_TimeLord 03-12-2004 02:18 AM

That information starts at post #18 of this thread (first page).

Does anyone have a layout picture of the GeForce FX5900XT with measurements? The memory layout is pretty diffrent from the FX59xxUltra cards...

Here you see the memorylayout..

diablito2k 03-15-2004 05:28 PM

Edit: thanks JFettig, that helps alot :)

JFettig 03-15-2004 05:49 PM

NO, those dimentions are center to center.

I updated the dimentions for the video card holes, They are in 'standard' and metric.

Included is a picture(jpg) and a zipped drawing(dxf)

Enjoy:)

This may have been said already, what size holes are used in 9700 and nf7-s for mounting the gpu and chipset heatsinks? I think i measured them at 2/3mm but lost the paper I wrote it on. Also for 2/3mm which size BA studding and tap will I need?
Also Id like to know the same for hdd mounting holes.

JFettig 03-24-2004 06:48 PM

They would be just over 3mm, I measured them to be like 1/8"

here is 9800pro from ATI measured to say +/- .1mm
Oh yea the measurements are in MM if you need inch say so i can convert them all in 2 second

yea you guessed it 1 9800pro waterblock coming up

naS 04-21-2004 08:46 AM

anyone have distaces for the socket 939/940 holes ? the one with the 2 holes .. ?

SlaterSpeed 04-21-2004 09:55 AM

Try the 7th post in this thread:) says A64 on the pic so i guess thats the same as 940/939 is it not?

naS 04-21-2004 04:43 PM

i saw that one .. its the socket itself but not the mounting holes , i also searched the AMD pdfs on thouse sockets , still no mounting holes distaces

edit: oh lol i've just figured out its for that black crap to mount the HSFs on it .. it look like the socket itself but i didnt understood howcome its so big :p

Can this Intel P4 Socket478 dimensions be considered as close to being exact?
Please correct the dimensions.
Thanks:)

P.S. Oh yes I have the dimensions w/c pHaestus posted, but it seems to be off a bit and there is no info on where is the location of the P4 heatspeader or CPU itself.
