heh, this just keeps on getting funnier

with no channels in it whatsoever it performs better. Keep on posting us updates jaydee, it gives me a laugh for at least 10 minutes each time ;)

Fixittt 02-17-2002 04:05 AM

well, atleast we know there is room for improvments. What if you remade the base with a series of pins sticking up, of course you would want one directly over the core. I am very interested in seeing how that would preform.

It would probably work. I don't think I am going to mess ith it anymore though. I got two blocks of my own I havn't finished yet.:D I need to put a center inlet in both with duel outlets.

Those are todays and tomorrow's projects. Going out of town Wendsday for about 7 days. And then work "should" be getting more busy so my time will be limited more than it already is. I am really thinking about trying to find a more in town job, but there are not many jobs around here because 2 major companies have layed of hundreds of people and even BurgerKing stopped hiring.:D So I think I am stuck for another year at least.

LOL

And to think that I almost let some clown convince me to buy one of those kits.

So what is to happen to the good ol z4 now? I would like to have a crack at it. See if I cant adapt a new bottom for it.

If the original owner has no objections of course....

Yeah, I will ship ot to you. schoolie pretty much gave it away to me. I need to get his address thought so I can send him the shipping I owe him.

I am leaving Wendsday for CA for 7 days and I can ship it before then.

Fixittt 02-17-2002 09:35 PM

kewl, Ill work on getting my PIN block programmed and see if I cant adapt it to the Z4 top.

What does it need for mounting?

I will send the mounting stuff with it. You will have ti decide if you want to change it. it would have been nice if the holes matched the socket holes but they don't. That is what the plastic adapters are for.

Brad 02-18-2002 12:33 AM

so do we think that it is because of how thin the base of the block is?

It dosn't help I don't think, but the main flaw was the 1/2" barbs with a 1/4" channel that didn't get used because of the gap they made.

Once the walls where milled out it was a much cooler block. 5-8C cooler!!! I am still running it and have been averaging 8-9C over water temp with the XP1600+@1534mhz 2.05Vcore 145FSB. That isn't to bad. If the base was thicker and larger with some type of added channels or something it might do even better.

Going to ship it off the Fixittt today.

Fixittt 02-18-2002 09:04 PM

Schoolie,

I want to take the time to personally thank you for sending the z4 to Jay. With the block in hand he was able to de-funk all the myths and BS surounding that crappy product. And I do hope that he was able to keep people from being disapointed after buying it.

As you all know Jay is now passing the remains of the Z4 on to me. I will look at it and see if there is something that can be done to make it a contender. If I am able to make a new plate for it and have it preform as good as most blocks out there, I want to send it back to you as a token of thanks. You did not have to send it to Jay. I know it was hard earned money that you put down for it. So thanks, and I will try my best to get you something you can be proud of owning.

schoolie 02-18-2002 09:24 PM

Hey no problem, Fixittt. I was angry when I opened up the box and saw what I'd bought. I'm glad my money didn't go to waste, thanks to jaydee and you. I'm happy that solid testing and analysis was done on the block so that other people don't waste good money on it. Please keep it. I'm very happy with the blocks that I have.

Of course, let me know when your next-generation block is ready:)

Fixittt 02-18-2002 09:27 PM

Ok I will let you know.

Then I think taking the re done block and having a give away would be well suited. Do you agree Schoolie? Its your call.

schoolie 02-18-2002 10:06 PM

Sounds good, Fixittt.

Jaydee, no worries about the shipping. My company pays me good money so that I can read these forums all day....Wait, that's not what they pay me for...better go, now:)

Brad 02-19-2002 12:20 AM

nahh, send it back to och and tell them you fixed it, and that they should look at how it performs, then open it up to see what you did

Prolly a maze2 from dangerden or a Spir@l from fixittt, but the spir@ls are backordered.

Jason711 02-21-2002 10:02 PM

probaly not i say just get the block pump and pelt if wanted from there you can get a one of the best performing radiators from any auto parts store for 25$ without shipping , you can make a res if you want one very easly and get the tubing and everything else from lowes or home depot

what im doing is getting a ehiem pump maz2 and some water wetter ruffly 100$ making my rez for 3$ getting a 1977 chevette heatercore for 25$ and getting tubing and everything else from lowes for 20$ at most

Jason711 02-21-2002 10:27 PM

not sure about the pelt, im am new to watercooling in the first place... ill have to try it some day though. your way sounds a bit more reasonable... saves atleast a buck or two.. :)

Brad 02-22-2002 02:45 AM

the maze2 is definately worth the money, but I'm still semi skeptical about eheims being worth so much (although DDen have the best price on them)
