All that work for a battery meter?

#Rotor 10-01-2004 05:27 PM

hardly....... just don't feel like getting a nice and expensice boost gage all screwed up and full of resin and moddling clay... :D

mfpmax 10-06-2004 04:06 PM

Definately going to be interesting.

#Rotor 11-13-2004 09:47 AM

First breath

Yeah ! My Baby has a voice.... and OMG does she sound Oh so willing and able....

I was actually very impressed, started up on the very first crank, I have not even had a need to play with the timing or anything, just purred up to life, and sounding real frisky....

killernoodle 11-13-2004 10:17 AM

Now that is a funny sounding engine... Is it supposed to sound like it is having ignition problems?

lolito_fr 11-13-2004 10:25 AM

sounds like something that redlines at 9krpm

#Rotor 11-13-2004 10:28 AM

I know, sounds more like a top-Fuel NHRA reject :D:D

yip, that is what a severaly Bridgeported Rotary sounds like....
also remember that the MIC responsable for that recording, is my Nikon's.... not exactly a stellar device for capturing such an Awesome sound.... :D
it's also not nearly as loud sounding, a much softer deeper ring to it, in real life.... I will try to get some proper recording EQ. to get a nice one...

I have not yet had any chance to play with the 750Holley's jetting and setting either, so there are still plenty of fine-tuning to do... but for a first start.... not bad in my opinion...

killernoodle 11-13-2004 12:42 PM

Its a shame that I am not hearing any supercharger whine or turbo hiss....

#Rotor 11-13-2004 02:54 PM

don't worry...... this blower I have here, Is allready in the works to get itself a permanent spot on top that motor.... I did a quick mock install the other day.... in the car, and everything fits like a glove, I can even get the hood closed without anything getting in the way... as matter of fact, it fits better than the Holley with it's K&N filter on top.....

the only big thing with the blower is that I will have to get a custom driveshaft mashined for it , to get the blower to hook up with the motor... and some custom flanges.

the inlet manifold I can easily manufacture myself....

superart 11-13-2004 04:25 PM

That hood looks farmiliar. Was that the insperation for the #rotor duct article?

killernoodle 11-13-2004 04:54 PM

How do you plan on making an intake manifold? By cutting up the old one and welding some aluminum on there? Also, how far out does the extension for the blower have to be to line up the belt? If it is a pretty long shaft, you might have to invest in a support bearing structure for it to prevent bearing failure in the supercharger.

#Rotor 11-14-2004 12:55 AM

It is infact the exact same car, as in the article yes.... just not Black any more.... :)

In order, stripped from the outside....
Looking at the front endplate of the blowers gearhousing(yellow),
with the shaft in green,
the bolts in white ,
the additional bearing is red
and it's housing is pink.

http://rotor.procooling.com/images/D...werfront05.jpg
http://rotor.procooling.com/images/D...werfront06.jpg

this last one give an idea of how nice and snug this blower will fit.... less than 60mm to the fan-belt plane.... the extra bearing is not really needed, but I'm putting one in, while I'm at it....

the intake is going to be very simple, actually, a flange, looking like the green one... the white one is the exhaust flange.
http://rotor.procooling.com/images/D...erflange01.jpg
http://rotor.procooling.com/images/D...3B-Blown02.jpg

now just construct plenums from the 3 round black holes, down to the ports..
this flange is also going to be responsible for holding the blower in place, I might think about adding a support strut on the opposing side, just to do a good job...:)

#Rotor 01-29-2005 12:49 PM

The Car project has been standing still for a bit.... not for to much longer though....

I'm a bit tied up with some more serious "money-making" (hopefully) adventures involving some seriously overprices sports-bikes and some carbon fibre and kevlar mixed in for good measure...

some tid-bit pictures of the goods in question...

Looks very nice, How are you going to do that intake manifold? Cut a flange and then bend pipe? You could mount a nice air to water intercooler in right there with that flange, that would be pretty pimp... Looks like you got plenty of room on the side of the engine for it as well.

Also, have you already calculated how big that pulley needs to be to get whatever boost you will need? Or is it going to be one of those guess and check things...

#Rotor 01-29-2005 01:59 PM

I have the volumetric displacement of the Charger, so it is very easy to calculate the size of the pulley that I need yes.....

the pulley in that drawing is for a 2000cc displacement into the 1308cc of the 13b engine, theoretically giving me the performance of a 20B engine.... I am somewhat limited with the amount of pressure I can run as a result of the engines 9.4:1 compression ratio, might have to get me some turbo rotors...

the inlet manifold is going to be made of Aluminium yes. got my hands on a very nice TIG welder.... :D some nice smooth 57mm 90ยบ Al bends, and it should be a fun project to see what the TIG welder can do.....

Belenar 02-26-2005 04:22 AM

*bump* ... any status on the project?
Been working on a car myself a bit lately ... which made me respect the work you did on yours even more ... I'll have to work on many more cars before I'll be able to get results that nice.

#Rotor 03-31-2005 12:20 PM

Not much yet, and I apologize for my blatant absence from this place lately :(.... still working on the funds department..... but soon there shall be lotsa action....

Heavy_Equipment 09-12-2005 05:45 PM

Off topic, but I figure you will see it here.

I was driving through Bradford on the weekend, past your old place, and wondered if you were still around.
A quick search found this thread, and as soon as I saw the car, I knew you weren't in Canada anymore.

My faithful water block is still in service, roughly 5 years later.
Thanks Mikael, it was a pleasure to meet you while you were here, and I hope things work out for you. Take care.

www.rx7club.com knows about you...

superart 09-13-2005 11:39 AM

question.

Have you considdered converting the carb engine, and going with fuel injection?

would give better milage, and more power.

plus, if your going with forced intake, it will like EFI far more than cabs.
