I hope you dont mind a bit of *cough* *cough* imitation of your block. my 1/16" bit went bye bye so for the first one making sure the slots were in the right place and everything i just made the channels 1/8", the one that i will actually use will have the channels corrected.

morphling1 01-29-2003 02:05 PM

Blackeagle, no silver update yet, I hurt my right hand today, won't even talk about, it was so stupid. So I can't realy work much.

-J- yep gold would be worse then copper.

chewboy, no problem :)

isnt gold the best material for heat dissipation? thats why the Mclaren F1 has a real gold (not plated) heat shield, and thats why DD now has a 24k gold plated rad http://shop.store.yahoo.com/pcpowerz...ngolxtrem.html

dima y 01-29-2003 11:32 PM

I think its not the main reason...

I think the rad is plated with gold for some bling bling more then anything else

lukasz70 01-30-2003 12:47 AM

thats true, that what i though as well, but it really seems like a waste it costs $100 !!!

the mclarenF1 thing is true though

Blackeagle 01-30-2003 12:59 AM

Sorry to hear you are hurt Morphling, I hope it's not to serious.

Blackeagle 02-12-2003 07:43 PM

How about a update Morphling1? Have you made the silver star version yet? Do you note any perfomance changes?

Pixs?

What type plexi do you use polycarbonate or acrylic? Thickness used?

LiquidRulez 02-13-2003 03:32 AM

Yeah morphling.....we want updates man!
Youve got us all drooling over this silver block, so we want to see it happen.

Brezjnev,

Welcome to Pro Cooling !

I think we all want to hear more on Morphling1's block, I know I do. It's not just the silver block but any data from anyone on how well his block is doing. Considering his outstanding O/C of that XP1700 I'm thinking it had to be more than just the chip. His O/C is 200+ more than any others are getting with water that I've seen. And I notice that the White Water has yet to score any such O/C's, and there are over a hundred now out to customers.

Have you received your block yet? Share info with us?

edit: And I'm sure you are very correct that he is very busy. I imagine many are sold on his design due to it's plexi top, micro channels and his High O/C with it. And if the one sent to BillA tests out high performing he'll have even more orders.

morphling1 02-13-2003 02:27 PM

Here I am :)
Update (damn I don't have a digi cam) I started working on silver block today, I had to make few copper ones, before I thoroughly clean my machine, and prepare for silver, don't wanna lose to much cut offs, so I also made so holder for vacuum cleaner to collect them :) Block will be finished tomorrow. Silver is realy fun to machine very similar to AL maybe even dryer so nothing sticks to the tool.
Breznjev block was sent on Tuesday he should get it soon. N8 block was sent last week but he still hasn't got it, it takes a little longer to get to US. So he will also know very soon how block perform, he also have dtek spiral so it will be good reference for comparison.
As for the tops I use 15mm polycarbonate... something I forgot :D blocks

bigben2k 02-13-2003 02:30 PM

Similar minds think alike... I'm going for 1/2" polycarb top.

Blackeagle 02-13-2003 03:48 PM

Look forward to hearing more in a few days. Interesting that silver machines so well.

Have you given thought to a name for your block. To fine to remain nameless.:D

morphling1 02-13-2003 04:30 PM

Ah boring me it's MK4 the succesor to my other blocks 1,2,3 :D

LiquidRulez 02-13-2003 10:33 PM

How about naming it Morph?

webmedic 02-14-2003 01:58 PM

This is looking very good. It will be interesting to see.

Cova 02-14-2003 03:06 PM

Just curious - how much did it cost to ship one to the US? I really like the look of it, but I fear shipping one to Canada may cost more than the block itself (I'm assuming shipping to Canada will be very similar cost to shipping to US). What you really need is a north-american distributor :)

morphling1 02-14-2003 03:45 PM

About 15$ not realy that extreme :D

Silver almost finished, I'll post pics tomorrow

webmedic 02-14-2003 03:48 PM

so how much for one of those blocks in copper and without any barbs? Or with 5/8 inch barbs?

morphling1 02-15-2003 07:18 AM

Update

I made this mounting block when I started working on silver block, it now much easier to mill because I don't have to remount block and align it each time I change directiton, I do that on vise which is 360° turnable.

And here's rough finish of silver block, it finished btw. but I'm again need to borrow the cam to photo the finished block

I won't have a chance to test it, because I'm giving it away in few minutes, but my version will be made soon.

BillA 02-15-2003 09:21 AM

looks great !

jaydee 02-15-2003 10:32 AM

Yes. that is very nice. How was that silver to mill/cut?

morphling1 02-15-2003 10:39 AM

Silver is great to machine :D , realy much nicer then copper, the cut off brakes, and not stick to the tool. Only thing you have to do is collect all the remains :D

BillA 02-15-2003 10:59 AM

heh
I started with 10 oz Troy (311gm) and wound up with exactly half
couldn't save a bit as it was all EDM

no real biggie, silver is not THAT expensive -> compared to the 15X cost of machining !

morphling1 02-15-2003 11:18 AM

LOL, yes with EDM everything machined out (not realy proper term) end up in that oily mud :)
I just learned how much that yeweller can get silver for 25cents/gram

Brezjnev 02-15-2003 11:47 AM

Now that is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, I think I'm in love.

morph, you might take a look at this thread: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/sh...hreadid=140926
Cathar is flaming you quite bad..

morphling1 02-15-2003 11:58 AM

Thanks for that, I rarely visit ocau. I'm not even gonna comment that, he could at least said it to me directly if he had problem with my design, but that's just childish...

hara 02-15-2003 12:34 PM

A bit out of subject but...morphing, you own a legal copy of archicad?
