The overhead was less than I expected, works pretty good. Might even be able to speed it up with some image pre-loading.

And everyone thought it was all over but the joking....

BalefireX 07-12-2004 02:39 PM

Groth, it is a thing of beauty

pHaestus 07-12-2004 02:40 PM

ok that's even sweeter than before. You remain my hero :)

Groth 07-12-2004 02:47 PM

Not bad for the my first web page. Got a couple more ideas, too; but those'll require learning a little more java. ;)

HammerSandwich 07-12-2004 03:57 PM

Looking good, guys.

pHaestus 07-12-2004 04:01 PM

The only thing I can think of this as needing prior to release on the main site is a Procooling watermark on the graph backgrounds.. I'll definitely get it posted tonight

bigben2k 07-12-2004 07:40 PM

Very well done!

pHaestus 07-12-2004 09:06 PM

thanks again guys!

IT'S UP!

Groth 07-13-2004 02:44 AM

Decided not to put in a watermark?

One nice side effect for this thing: it makes life harder for the people who want to link your pictures into their sites.

well, you can still take a screenshot...
backgrounds with snowflake watermark?

Groth 07-13-2004 03:49 AM

True, a screenshot does the job. But then they have to use their own webspace and bandwidth, instead of leeching directly from ProCooling.

Oooh, snowflake-age!

Incoherent 07-13-2004 04:39 AM

Great work guys.

One thing though.
Is there any particular reason for keeping the temperature scale as it is, in graduations of 0.4C? Could it not be 0.2 or 0.5C? Just a little easier to read.

Groth 07-13-2004 05:17 AM

No particular reason for a 0.4 C grid that I know of, 'tis legacy pH thing. Now that you've got me thinking....the x and y axes could be separate--independent choices of F and C, GPM and LPM, grid and plain. :)

not C -> F... dont make me play with 9ths, please! ::hides::

Groth 07-13-2004 05:38 AM

Kidding! No need to make the thing baroque.

What service!

Bah! Good service would mean pH getting his ass outa bed and doing an image swap.

In the meantime, I have one with image preloading, an updated swapping function, snowflake backgrounds, and logo watermark! Wow.

BalefireX 07-13-2004 08:29 AM

The image preloading is good stuff, and I see you added a little personal touch to the watermarking :)
0.5° C resolution is nice too, easier to work things out.

Honestly, graphing like this (esp. when pH starts recording more and more data with all his shiny new toys) will make the site so much more useful as a resource.

BillA 07-13-2004 08:42 AM

beyond excellent guys!

Groth 07-13-2004 08:45 AM

Well, this isn't as quite as good as actual dynamically generated graphs, but we do what we can.

I need to figure out how IE does its cache stuff, the swapping is faster with Moz because it isn't constantly verifying the images.

pHaestus 07-13-2004 09:32 AM

yawn...youngest went to bed at 2:30...oldest woke up at 6. I am going to die today.

Oh one cool tidbit: I just used a pho include of groth's html to make the page so I can swap this out in roughly 5 seconds :)

Groth 07-13-2004 09:45 AM

I thought you'd appreciate its self-contained and transplantable nature.

No need to bother inserting this latest stuff (unless you really want to), it'll go through another couple revisions today. You could sub in BalefireX's new snowflake backgrounds, though.

pHaestus 07-13-2004 09:52 AM

already done (now to get to work)

BillA 07-13-2004 10:32 AM

pH
do you have a e-mail 'notification list' ?
LOTS of places should link to that graphic

congrats BalefireX and Groth

pHaestus 07-13-2004 10:49 AM

I have a list of web sites that I send news to. Hey I should get Swiftech's product announcement list :D

BillA 07-13-2004 10:53 AM

I'll ask Gabe if you wish ?
