If you'd like to stage a coup, just e-mail trades@blueprint.org your 8-character handle, our team number (1680), and your statement of intent to seize control.

Disband the team. :D Other than that I don't know, never ran a team.

Team leaders can kick members out of the team.
Team leaders can change the name of the team.

That's it.

Satanico, after exactly 72 hours, my A64 3000+ bufferd up 602 generations. Keep in mind though that this machine is not only dedicated to folding.

From the folding website...

"The protein update is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at 11:00am EST. Make sure to upload your buffered results ahead of time, and check the news section for any updates. "

So a new protein tomorrow...

Groth 02-10-2004 07:51 PM

Look out jaydee! Just in time for the new protein, I've fixed my fried motherboard. Poor thing now has an external circuit to supply power to the memory. We'll be limping along with some old PC2100 memory until I pick up some fast stuff over the weekend....better start fleeing now.

Fourth place will be mine again!!!!!!!

I just dumped a few points saved up. Will give me a little lead. I will give it all I got untill the end of March and then I might be moving. Probably will be getting rid of my extra comps if that is the case. Just will not have room for them.

IM KING OF THE WORLD (for folding that is) :)

#1 ranked of all folders :) Hit #1 today

Rock on.

Also looks like we are on track to take back 5th place in a day or so!

Boli 02-11-2004 09:20 AM

And in a small (but important for me) way my main folder(verb) will be back on track very soon... nearly doubling my output :D.

Get updated to the new protein ASAP to the guys that have not already as it is faster! Two of my comps are putting out more than all 4 where on the last one. Unfortunatly 2 of them failed to autoupdate though. All fixed up and running 100% now though.

heh, could be wrong on the speed. Looks like it updated right before I got home. I thought only two comps were running most of the day being the update was supposed to be this morning.

Does anyone know what's up with the low scores over the past few hours? Is this the new scoring system that was bragged about?

Isn't that a noun either way? (If I'm wrong, go easy on me, English is my first language. ;p )

Groth 02-11-2004 09:15 PM

It's the new protein. 129 residues takes longer to fold than the previous 108. Folding time is roughly proportional to the square of the # of residues, give or take a bit based on the shape of the protein. This one looks to be about 20% slower than the last.

Plus, it take folks a while to get through that first generation-0.

The scoring system that is constantly mentioned on the folding page has nothing to do with points for us; it's about giving the folds a fitness score, to pick which one to base the next generation on. With any luck, we'll get better RMSD with the latest scoring function.

English is a very funny language... and one of the largest in the world actually.

"to fold" is a verb
"folding" is a verb in the past tense (he was folding last night)
"folder" denotes "job of folding" (he is a good folder).

Of coures I bracketed the verb just to separate it from the more common use of the world A folder(noun)... (computer folder for exmaple).

I was just eing picky b/c the context it was in it sounded wrong.

Next week 'i' before 'e'' :D

 Well, in Holland we use it also in the present and the future

My mistake. I thought I saw updated timestamps on core files earlier in the day. Apparently the update didn't happen until later last night...

What is everybody else seeing for speed decreases? From the limited data I have on hand, I'm looking at about a 35% drop on my Barton 2300...
~6.3 gens/hour down from ~9.7 gens/hour.

Groth 02-12-2004 01:47 PM

These big protein like memory bandwidth. An old PC100 using box has slowed 50% or more from the last protein; my top cruncher (with PC3200) has only dropped ~20%.

Grammar lessons on a cooling forum?

"to fold" is an infinitive, a special type of prepositional phrase.

"folding" can be used as a passive verb (I was/have been/am/will be folding), a gerund (Folding is cool), or as a participle (I fixed my folding computer).
