text client. I bet that it did autoupdate with a botched version. I have now deleted the install from all the affected computers and started over. We'll see if I can actually get some points on the board now. I now have:

P4 1.8
P4 2.2
TBird 1.33
TBredB 2100MHz
XP 1600+

all folding as of this post. I should be able to get another TBred into the mix shortly as well.

pHaestus 07-30-2003 07:14 PM

yes it looks like I am now actually turning in some tolerable numbers. I am guessing in the neighborhood of 48k structures/day now that the PCs are actually DOING something.

Glad your back up and running. I was getting worried we might fall apart after than mess up. But it looks like we are getting back on track.

Keep it up guys!

pHaestus 07-30-2003 09:10 PM

I should probably post it as a main page news item that people need to check boxes and possibly reinstall, eh?

Might be a good idea.

pHaestus 07-31-2003 10:00 AM

ok posted. I am gonna be close to 100k whenever all my boxes have been running for a full 24 hours. Not a bad run. I should be able to sustain this for the forseeable future, and in fact I can still throw a couple more boxes on whenever I get the parts to watercool them.

jaydee 07-31-2003 09:21 PM

I am back to running all 3 comps for us. Looks like we are doing pretty good. If we can keep it over 500,000 a day we shouldn't get passed for while and should pass a team or two ahead of us.

Keep it up!

pHaestus 07-31-2003 10:24 PM

Joe's idle. Everyone PM him and bitch :)

Phant0m51 07-31-2003 11:42 PM

Does your guys' client re-start at gen 0 every once in a while? I just looked at my DFGUI and it says I'm at Gen 0 with 8765 structures finished of 10,000.

What the hell is going on?

Yeah, it is supposed to do that. Once you hit 250 the cycle is done and it restarts at 0.

My three comps finally got a dose of speed!

Looks like the new guy ftjandra is kicking some ass to! Way to go man!

We are over 800,000 a day as of now. Keep up the good work everyone!

ftjandra 08-02-2003 11:54 PM

Yup, here to help out...go ProCooling :p

pHaestus 08-03-2003 01:16 PM

over 1 million now! We still need a lot more active users if we are going to crack the top twenty though.

pHaestus 08-03-2003 09:57 PM

Ahh yes I finally broke 1 million total structures and looks like I am settling in at the top five. I think ftjandra will pass me pretty shortly though; he/she is kicking ass!

I am a 'he' btw :). I've been a lurker here for a long time. For what it's worth, I have 11 clients running on 9 computers (2 are duallies). Here are the specs:
-Workstation - Dual Athlon MP 2100+'s
-NAS - Dual 866MHz P3's
-HTPC - 2.4GHz P4
-Laptop1 - 850MHz P3
-Laptop2 - 750MHz P3
-Brother1 - Athlon XP 1800+
-Brother2 - 1400Mhz TB
-Mom - 866Mhz P3
-Server - 400MHz P2
All are running with the 'useram=1' option. I also have an old 500MHz Celeron somewhere...

OK, obviously, the client works way faster on a AMD than on a INTEL!

EDIT: OMFG! ftjandra, your case rocks!

MHZ per MHZ yes. The PR rating is pretty accurate D.F. wise. I only got 3 AMD comps and they are far from the fastest available. I am going to drop the laptop on tonight for a while. It is a 1.1gig Intel.

jovetata 08-05-2003 12:55 AM

does the amount of ram on a system matter for folding? cuz i have 256 now and will be getting 1gig on thurday ;)

ftjandra 08-05-2003 01:07 AM

There are two settings when running the client, you can either limit the usage to a max of 25megs, or a max of 150megs. It's supposed to run twice as fast with 150megs. So, my guess is that it wont run any faster with 1gig. By the way, my clients are set to use 150megs, but so far I have never seen them go higher than 90megs.

cool thanx

Joe 08-05-2003 09:21 AM

Ive had some stability issues I am working on resolving. would seem I maybe made my machine a tad too silent and the CPU's were running a lil hotter than they liked.

jaydee 08-05-2003 05:04 PM

Alright guys another "official update" on August 13th.

Quote:

-We will be releasing a new version of the software AND a new protein on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at 11:00 AM EST. This software update should fix a large portion of the existing bugs.
Telling you now so you can make a note of it and hopefully check your comps after the update. We are doing pretty damn good and would hate to see another mess up screw us up again.

Looks like we will be catching Canada here soon!

ftjandra 08-05-2003 07:47 PM

Is there a way you can see what's going on if you run the client as a 'service'? Or can you assume that everything is fine if the processes are taking up a CPU percentage in the task manager?
