when did u use opera? The new version7 is just as stable as FF.

lukr 02-25-2005 03:22 PM

Opera 8.beta is out for some time. downloadable from Opera's ftp (ftp://ftp.opera.com/ )

superart 02-25-2005 04:09 PM

Im really happy with opera7 right now, and I have exeem beta right now on my system too. Dont like having too many betas installed at once.

Susquehannock 02-26-2005 11:40 PM

Opera - was quite a while back. The part I really liked was the R/L mouse click forward/back
feature. Will have to give it a try again. :)

superart 02-27-2005 01:57 AM

mouse gestures and right click-wheel to switch between pannels is my favorite
that and default saving of sessions--like if your computer crashes or whatever, your session (back/forward status, open pannels, etc) get saved. Very usefull.

That whole tabbed browsing thing.... it just makes so much sense. Yeah, I'm a firefox fanboy.

  • Adblock Ad blocker. (Get filters from http://www.geocities.com/pierceive/adblock/)
  • Bookmark Backup 0.3.3 - Creates a backup of bookmarks.html each time the browser is closed. (There seem to be a couple of bugs with Firefox bookmarks, so for safety...)
  • BugMeNot 0.6.1 - Bypass compulsory web registration with the context menu via www.bugmenot.com. (Good for online newspapers.)
  • ChatZilla 0.9.67 - A simple, straightforward Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client. (IRC in Firefox. Huzzah!)
  • ColorZilla 0.8.2 - Advanced Eyedropper, ColorPicker, Page Zoomer and other colorful goodies.
  • Diggler 0.9 - A URL manipulation tool for power users (Has links to current page in Google cache/archive.org.)

Firefox all the way. Moreso for the cool looking icon :p Tabbed browsing rules (that is available in a beta of IE 1.whatever). I just wish that when I closed one tab, it would return me to the last tab I was looking at.

just wanted to say that.

BTW is there an extension that can make coffee? That would be something not built-in in Opera, and would realy use.
:]

dacooltech 09-28-2005 11:34 AM

I've been using with FF for quite some time, and love it... I recently installed Opera 8.5 BTW, and that's a great browser too... Both of them are much better than IE IMHO

superart 09-28-2005 02:11 PM

I've been meaning to install Opera8 for a while.

For those who use it, does it fix the problem with printing web pages that have frames?

That is pretty much the only bug/annoyance that Opera has, IMO.

pHaestus 09-28-2005 03:04 PM

Websites have frames?

jaydee 09-28-2005 07:56 PM

Not sure if that was sarcastic or not but yeah websites use frames. The last one's I built with frames has a top frame a left frame and the main frame. If you click a link on the left frame the window opened in the main frame leaving the top and left frame in view. There are better ways to do it than frames though. Most have moved on to better methods.

superart 09-29-2005 08:45 AM

ph? Sarcastic? nooooo....never.......

scalez 09-30-2005 03:25 PM

i'm a firefox man, i'm a slave to tabbed browsing, espically in forums

lukr 09-30-2005 06:16 PM

tabbed browsing? :)

superart 09-30-2005 09:56 PM

lol.
fiend.

and I thought I was bad.

btw, do you use the Opera mail client?

lukr 10-01-2005 03:41 AM

yes, i think i use it since 7.something.
Mail+RSS feeds are open on the left, and i have ~1024px left for webpages.

(was thinking about removing the tab bar, its pretty much pointless :D)

superart 10-01-2005 12:52 PM

how do you like the mail client?

I tried using it when 7.0 first came out, but it was too weird.

Eventually I just converted entirely to web-based email for all of my accounts because of the convenience.

lukr 10-03-2005 07:51 AM

well. it works for me. Some ppl say its weird/strange/c***/etc. And some other ppl like it.
Mail filters sometimes can act strangely, but after reading the mail filter tutorial at Opera's website i could set it up properly.
Can handle large amount of mails&RSS messages without slowing down.

Give it a try.

As for web-based mails i use one Gmail account for some high traffic mailing lists, and as a "storage" for mails/links/files i might need when im not at home.

mx-6* 10-09-2005 09:55 AM

IE is best when its disabled completely.

For some reason there are a few sites that I go to that dont work with Firefox though. Must be because they are military sites.
