Running stable at 1700+ JIUHB 0302 @ 180x12,5= 2250MHz Vcore 1.9
This is totally stable but i need to raise the Vcore to get any furter. |
You have to mod the last L3 jumper to go above 12.5 on the 8RDA+. Some people on the OC-Forums were talking about a method of popping that jumper with a 9volt battery. You should check that thread out (it is in the AMD CPU subforum).

careful. You may find that only killing the 5th L3 doesnt get you where you want to go. That results in bridge layout of c-c-c-c-o, and this doesnt' translate to a valid multiplier. There is no difference between blowing up a bridge and just shorting the socket pins on the backside of the mobo; why risk the chip?

c-c-o-c-o is 13x.
so blowing the third and fifth will result in a 13x when 8x is selected in bios, if using a KT333 board. |
Crap...can't go futher. My sound is going for a walk, and Unreal won't start because the sound is crapping up. This is when the FSB is set too high. So i need the mod...

I've put in two now, and both are running over 2200 Mhz stable on half-ass air cooling and only 1.775V. Decent chips. If I was going to get one for myself, though, I'd probably shell the extra $35 on a AIUHB 2100+ for the extra headroom per voltage and the high multiplier unlock. I didn't get to play with a JIUHB (I wish!), but I think the extra security for such a small cost is prudent.

i jsut got my epox 8rda about 15 mins ago from the ups guy, got everything else here except a small hard drive and cd drive for it, and im trying to contact my friend now and have this thing up and running pretty soon (got a big azz lan on march 7-9 i want to get ready for with all the kinks worked out) |

Update:
Well I got my (2) Corsair PC3500 256Mb units in the mail lastnight and installed them. Without the Vdd mod, I was unable to push my board over 180 reliably. Soo I am in standby mode till I have enough time to install the Vdd mod. One very interesting stiuation happened though. I testest my system with UT2003 benchmarks before and after the new RAM was installed. With a single Corsair PC3000 512MB unit (CAS2-3-3-7 timmings) I would get a bot match score of ~69FPS @ 1600x1200x32. NOW with the dual Corsair PC3500 256MB units (CAS2-3-3-7 timmings), I get only ~66FPS. The FSB settings, Vcore, multiplier, and other BIOS settings are all the same. WTF!?!?!??! Will get back in touch after completeling my Vdd mod. |
UPDATE:
Just modded the board for 1.82V on the chipset and currenty running (2) Corsair PC3500 256MB sticks @ 210FSB. Total clock speed as of right now = 2310Mhz @2.0V I must admit that it is not completely stable but it is burning in and seemes to be getting more stable the more I use it. (I think my problem is that my PSU is not getting enough current to the chip. My +5V rail is between 4.79-4.83V, need to fix that) My goal is for 2500+Mhz so it will take a bit more to get that. |

Well, as it turned out, there was a few things that was causing my instabilites.
First, PSU. I would have random reboots, BSOD, and Explorer errors. It would also randomly lockup trying to access the BIOS. (very annoying). Replaced the Enermax with the Antec TruePower 550W and my BIOS lockups and voltage irregulations went away. Second, RAM. The RAM itself is wonderful but I discovered that if I used the RAM units in the slots that the MB recommended for 128bit BUS, it was unstable. I moved both units closest to the CPU and my Explorer errors and RAM timmings were fixed. Third, OS. Because of the combination of RAM and PSU, my OS got screwed up. Luckly, I created a disk image before I started to heavily OC my system. Restored the image and updated the drivers and that solved my random BSODs. I am now running 99.99% stable at 2310@210FSB w/ 2-2-2-5 RAM timmings @ 2.05V. The CPU runs at about 40C underload, which is a bit high for my taste but it will have to do. :) |
look, having bad ram doesnt prevent you ppl for overclocking.
just got a 1700++ JIUCB BUT: -the crapiest DRD 333 ram i found ( 2*256, i can give you the manufacture later) its at 2400mhz stable @ 1.8v (keeps running prime95 with no errors) and mbm says it has a temperature of..... 58 degrees.... i agree, the cooler is the cheapest copper one i found, i just adapted in it a 120mm fan :shrug: in fact, i can get this with a stick of DDr 266 i have also. but in bios you have to set timings low, like 7-3-2 with cas at 2.5, and letting the RAm diviser in auto. in my system its at 60% i think (122 mhz on ram) this is just for testing the processor, if you like the overclocability of it, go buy some decent ram for it, because it deserves it :) |
jtroutma!, Does the Epox mobo use the 12v rail for the CPU?(does it use the extra 2 x 12V, 2 x Earth power plug?. because ATX plugs have only one +12v wire). The Abit NF7 series uses 12v for the CPU instead of the 'traditional' 5v rail. Antec has an independant 12v rail (not tied to 5v as 'usual') with it's own voltage sensing/correction unlike others makes. This could account for the change if your old Ennermax was a half decent wattage...
Antec seem to be the PSU of choice for these new 12v CPU mobos'. I got a 550w TP as well, and am well happy with it... |
