i still remember that case when it was boring beige; leet paintjob you got going there. to start nitpicking, the feet under the case are a bit too tall for my likes; but a necessity for the rad. |
here's my current setup, pictures were taken about a month ago, since the a 2nd PSU has been added in the empty spot above the current one. unfortunatly I couldn't get any pictures in the dark with the case lights as none of them developed.

I have finished my first mod. I had gone out last week and bought a bigger radiator, a more powerfull water pump and a waterblock for the North Bridge. Only problem was my case was already a little full. So I went out and bought a plane jane server case. Took it home and put it under the knife. The back became what is now the bottom. So it stands straight up. What was the bottom I cut out and added a window. Then I cut holes for fans. 1 in each side. 2 in the back where I mounted the rads. I attached the pumps outside the server case on the rear. So now I have over 50% of the water and components out of my case and into it's own box.
since I had 2 pumps and 2 rads I now basically have 2 seperate kits. The 1st pump flows to the video Card, then the old rad and back to the pump. The New pump flows to the northbridge, then CPU, Then Reservoir, then new rad and back to the pump. Also all last summer I had half the air from my Air Conditioner into my case. Now that summer's over I moved the piping so it's bringing in cold air from outside. I went to home depo and purchased a medium size fan for pushing air through home ventalation and heating systems and installed that aswell to bring in even more cool air. since I had all that cool air to play with I cut 1 more fan hole in the side of the case and have all of that cold air pumping straight into the water case. I havent really had time to get temps yet but I'm homing this will hwlp me to gather up a few more Onions. But even If it dosent. It looks deadly. It was deffinatley a fun project for my first mod. Here's my first venture in water cooling- Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Ultra, 2.8 P4C @ 230, 1 gig OCZ 4000 Gold, 1 Cheetah X15 (main drive), 2 WD Raptor's in Raid 0 for games, data..., Radeon 9800XT, Audigy 2 Platinum EX, All Swifty parts with dual rads and 3 92 mm fans mounted under top cover, 5 1/4" Swifty t-line and pump. Swapped lines (parallel,series.....) many times now and this works best but they are all very close in temps. Not really built for top performance, more for build it and forget and ease of working on my machine. Hadn't thought of cooling that yet. This is my first Gigabyte board. Imagine the DPS gets pretty warm as well. Is that a standrd flat base on that block? GPU cooler work on that? Might order one today along with some other parts. Won't get home till later to take the DPS apart and check it out. Just noticed the smaller ID circuit running the chipset DPS and the larger running thew proc. Very nice. |
That system isn't mine I'd just made a few blocks for him, The DPS probably doesn't need a wb, but he was also after a fanless system. The DPS block was custom made the base plate has "fingers" protruding to cover all the fets, also the retaining hole spacing differs from any GPU / NB sinks I've come across

I'll forget the DPS then for now. Don't own a mini-mill, yet ;) Coming soon though, I can mill a lot of my own racing parts that way too. Aluminum brackets and such that I now have to buy and then put on a drill press to drill lightening holes. Mill would be much faster and I could put my car number in all my own parts :D
Some wild tubing you got going on there :cool: Very nice setup, didn't realise you were the same Bladerunner that did that custon vidcard block. I remember following that when you did it. Very nice. |

Did my second water cooled box back around Christmas. It was my new Reflexion XPC and it was a mother to do. Once I got started it just became a challenge to get done. The other was to use higher end parts as opposed to mini water cooling "systems".
The parts list is, a Reflexion- Duhhh, a Swiftech MCP300 pump, a Swiftech pump realay, a D-tek White Water cpu block (front outlet plugged due to drive cage), a Black Ice Micro Chrome rad, a Zalman 80x15mm fan, 3/8" Tygon tube, a WD Raptor HD, 2x512 Corsair 3500 XMS, TDK 840G DVD-RW, ATI 9600XT, Hercules Game Theatre XP. BTW- it's now back to stock config as I take it places and the water cooling wasn't such a great thing to have if I needed to work on it somewhere. Would have had to carry fill container, fill hoses, .......
