I've read through most of the thread and I'd like to offer any help that I can.
One thing I noticed was about the multiple client issue.
Basically you can have 2 clients folding on your HT machine as long as you issue a seperate machineID for each (ie machineID=1 machineID=2 etc) ...the more processes you have the more machineID's you set up to 8.
As for the GUI version and multi clients. You can only have one instance of the GUI per machine. If you fold with two clients you may use one GUI and one Console or you may choose to use both clients as Console. You cannot use 2 GUI's.

Something not yet mentioned that you may keep in mind is user id's within the registry. This should only give issues if you ghost from one machine to another with a f@h client installed. If you duplicate the user id withing the registry on 2 or more machines you will waste lots of folding power and only receive points for one. The way to avoid this is to either delete the user id from the registry before you make the ghost master ...or simply delete it once you've ghosted. Once the client is restarted an individual id will be applied.

I've already gotten too long winded so if you have any questions I can answer please ask.
I wish you the best of luck with your team effort ...great idea!

I have three P4 3.2's in front of me... we finally got our new workstations at work :evilaugh:

Hopefully we'll get them onto the network quickly; the PIII's that we're working on now suck... bad.

mjgent 05-12-2005 03:11 AM

That's great! I've added a few more P4s and our Phoenix office should have about 3 P4s (with HT) which should be folding in a few weeks.

Wow, the number one producer on F@H has a 100K+ 24h average

That is incredible... don't know why I shared, just impressed I guess :p

Nightfall 05-16-2005 04:52 AM

Looks like I can only fold with them for 8 hours a day.

That means they will only be helping as much as a single P4 3.2 folding 24/7 :(

Sorry guys

Nightfall 05-17-2005 01:35 AM

Updated the first post and cleaned it up a little.

Nightfall 05-19-2005 04:18 AM

Damn it

I need some help if possible. FYI, I am behind a proxy, which I have set up in IE and have F@H using IE settings.

I can download WU's but can't upload them after they are finished.

[09:04:33] + Attempting to get work packet
[09:04:33] + Attempting to send results
[09:04:33] - Connecting to assignment server
[09:04:34] Couldn't send HTTP request to server (wininet)
[09:04:34] + Could not connect to Assignment Server
[09:04:34] Couldn't send HTTP request to server (wininet)
[09:04:34] + Could not connect to Work Server (results)
[09:04:34] (171.64.122.112:8080)
[09:04:34] - Error: Could not transmit unit 01 (completed May 19) to work server.

Not sure what is going on exactly. Edit: Just tried manually entering in the proxy information instead of having it use IE's settings. I'll see what happens after it gets done with another WU.

My guess is the serves are down. It used to happen more often and I have had machines the could not turn in or get new units for days at a time.

Here is a link to the server status and you can check to see if your are listed to make sure if its on your end or thiers.

mjgent 06-04-2005 03:55 PM

We're looking better now. It looks like we may just be able to hold off team castlecops from passing us.

scooterfl 06-04-2005 05:43 PM

You're 38 instances really helps:) I should be over 2k/day soon as I stop messing with my dual opteron rig

Thanks. Your kicking some a** yourself. I've got a few more P4 HTs to get going by next week though.

Nightfall 06-06-2005 12:40 AM

I bet there are a lot of people involved in procooling that have just idle computers...
Wasted resources

I bet your right about that. I don't think it would take much for us have a nice pace.

I think the issue is insentive...
why should anyone fold?
why should we bother?
sometimes i wonder...

for me it is knowing that i'm doing a little bit of good...
it might save my life from cancer 10 years down the road...
but i guess those that don't bother, don't feel a need to help..
they will never worry about cancer and don't have any friends that have it...

Sooner or later reality catches up to all of us. If nobody did anything about trying to solve the world's problems, no matter how small of an effort given, there would be no progress.

And no, I'm not saying that if someone doesn't fold it's the end of the world.

I tried giving away a free Plextor Premium 52x32x52 which is still a pretty expensive CD-RW drive even today. Even got the little contest on the front page, but nothing came of it.

If the issue is insentive then it's probably going to have to be cash or something worth a significant amount of money. Kind of sad if you ask me :(

This is a local (Colorado) import enthusiast site that I check up on once and a while. I'll see if the interest is there to get them folding with us. Hopefully at least one person there will see the good in the project.

HAI members - If you have any questions and happen to read this, register with procooling and any of us would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have :D

Good idea. I'll ask on some of my other sites. Especially sites that don't already have a folding team.

Great! Welcome to the team. If you have any questions just ask. There are a lot of helpful people here.

IndianaCouple 06-12-2005 12:30 PM

I'll tell ya, this is an awesome site. I've learned more here than anywhere else!
