Actually, a patent pending or AKA a provisional patent application only costs $80 in the states,and lasts for up to one year and gives you the legal right to claim patent pending and test it out in the commercial market.

You dont need any lawyer to do it and best of all you get early filing date of the PPA if and when you decide to go with a formal patent application within one year from original PPA date.

And it doesnt even get reviewed by a patent clerk or require all of the paperwork and hassles of a formal patent application that would usually require the expertise of a patent attorney,due to its severe complexity and extensive researching reqirements that are readily available to registered patent attorneys.

if cathar decided to do something of the sort,after research he may find that he cant claim either jet impingement, nor microchannels as being his idea in its functional form and application.
And will have wasted alot of money just to find this out.

I would have just put in for the PPA before revealing it to anyone.

This would have insured me from anyone using my design in any way shape or form for a year from filing date.

Bottom line is ALWAYS protect yourself and your unique ideas.
Its too easy to get screwed over,and usually done by those you trust first.

Uf, finaly got some time off to finish silver block for me :)
This is modified version with extremly small microchannels, this will prolly be the only block of this kind I'll ever make, I haven't realy test how much it restrict water, I'll do that tomorrow.

Ok performanse numbers. First I must say the block is very restrictive as I thought (even more) so normal submersible pump can't handle that. That's why I connected the block on direct line high preasure tap water, and open the valve so I got ~ 500l/h Water temp was constant 14°C my tbred 1700+ overclocked to 2700 MHz 2.025V where folding @ home temp was 26°C on Epox 8rda sensor. Results are ~4 degrees lower the with previous Cu block in my regular setup with water temps compensated.
After seeing this I'm very much thinking about using central heating circulating pump with head more then 10m and adjustable rpm's and skip radiator all together and just dig the holes near my basement computer room, lay some copper pipes and have high performanse ultra silent setup. And the room is also on the north side so the ground should remain relatively cool even on summer.

Anyone tried a large, wallmounted radiator, the old fashioned style for heating the room? You know, the 1 X 3 meters, white painted, finned things hanging at walls in most homes.
OK, they´re most likely filled with unspeakable substances from years of usage, they´re made from cast iron witch may cause battery effect. Would there be any point in trying?

Morphling!, could'nt you get away (spacewise) with putting a bigger outlet barb in there?, a 3/8~BSP sized barb would be excellent 5/8 AKA 16mm with a 14mm inner I/D would allow a nice pressure drop to increase impingment would'nt it?. 8mm I/D is certainly too much back pressure!, why not drill them out at least?, stainless will maintane strenght at a very thin wall thickness (it may be sharp enough to damage tubing though)...

Have you thought about epoxy/bonding 13mm Cu pipe in the top instead of threading it for barbs?, the outside profile is simular to a 1/2 barb but with much superior inner diametre...

Have you really submited a Cu version to 'BAd'ams (:p) for testing?, have you heard any feedback yet?...

edit: For a powerfull pump of high head, how about a Iwaki MD20 rlzt? Expensive, but much less noise than a general heating or home water pump, & 22 ft. of head @ 2.9 gpm flow rate. Or to really go over the top: Iwaki MD 30 rlzt @ 4.6 gpm & 36 ft. of head. The MD 30 would meet your 10m of head goal. Although I have no idea if they sell these in your country or not.

@MadDogMe, I would have to slightly change the design to fit bigger barbs. Drilling in stainless steel barb is possible, but because my are straight rounded,secure fastening one before drilling would be little difficult, I would have to screw it in some metal block and then secure that one in vise, and then drill through. I may try that sometimes, but I realy can't see much temperature difference with slightly better flow, because even if I power on my second pump which improve flow rate, I can't at least in my setup notice any temp. difference.
As for Bill Adams test, I know I said it some time ago that I will send one, but time, time, time is what I don't have especialy this time of year, I still want to do it and I will but can't realy say when.

@Blackeagle, Iwakis are just wishfull thinking here, no I can't found one. But at least for case setup they are too big for me. But for ground cooling they are good, but for about the same money I can buy Grundfos circulating pump, which at least for me are even better but bigger, but that isn't the problem with that kind of setup

@ChrioN, :D because I got the chance, why not NB in silver too. I'm slowly (very) putting my second rig together with DodgeViper beautiful double shrouded core together and I'll use silver blocks there.

I'm just wandering how's the issue of galvanic corrosion between silver and copper. Maybe that could be the excuse you need to build an all silver setup? :D

LOL :D unfortunatly ther is no problem between those two materials, so no silver core for me :)

Thinking about the barbs they'd be a nightmare to drill whatever being SS, whenevr I've drilled SS it's used one drillbit per hole :( , in light gauge sheet steel!, it'd take ten drillbits to get through those mothers!! :D ...

You're right I think, jet~impingment does'nt do the cooling on your block, it's purely the thin channels making 'all' the water contact the medium...
