Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I also could use 3.4.805 or newer, I've got a 4000 that won't play nice with big drives, but this site is the greatest when it comes to information on these things

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?

3.4.805 PLEASE!!! |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Is there any chance that the OS for the 2200, is on the board rather than on the Hard Drives. I some how screwed up the hard drives on my new 2200 320 gb while trying to restore my older 2200 240 gb server. I mixed up the disks and apparently lost the OS, because my new server will not boot with either drive in Top position. How can I get this 2200 360 gb snap back up and running.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
NO !!!!
I hope you didn't have anything on them you needed. :bawling: That seams to be a common problem with novice using dd. If you were to open my units up you would find that all are labled with date installed and position. I do it will all pc's. So if I have a drive problem I know pretty quick if it's in warranty. Your only option would be to use a image file. Apparently you were not in RAID 1. Do you know what version of the OS you were at? At least one was 3.4.805 and greater to support 160gig drives. It should be Mandatory for all multiple drive snaps to run be in redundcy, Raid 1 or 5. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I have been looking for the elusive 3.4.805 OS. I have a 4100 with 4 120gb seagate drives and would like to upgrade to 4 250gb seagates. My unit has software 3.4.803 hardware 2.2.1 and firmware 2.4.437. Would someone please email it to me or send a link.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Could anyone mail me the Snap OS 3.4.085 image, so I can install my repaired snap server 1100 again ? The harddisk failed and I cant resurrect it without the snap os image file.
Thanks. mail to: mattijs@leliveld.nl |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
There is no 3.4.085 image file. I think there is a 3.4.??? floating around.
The 1100 have been a little odd when it comes to reloading from img files. Some work with a 1000 img file. While others want a 2200 image file. So if you have another snap laying around. Try it it may work. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Ya know Dave, while you are at it with all these 1x00 models, I have one of those also. I spend so much time with my 4000 I do not pay much attention to my 1000. So, what can ya tell me about this beats (you know all the basic questions)?
Model ____ 1000 series Software _ 3.4.805 (US) Hardware _ 3.1.1 BIOS _____ 2.1.364 Thanks man... ;) |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
IT will be Sloooooooooow compared to your 4000. But highly portable.
There are 2 different version of the 1000 to complicate things. Version 1 has the OS stored in flashram like your 4000. So all you have to do is replace the drive. Yours is a v3, so you will need to copy the boot tracks over to the new drive. If you don't have a image file, I would advise doing so, before it craps out. Then burn to a cd for safe keeping. As to size????? There doesn't seam to be any restrictions, that has poped up. So you can drop a 500gig drive in, which I think has already been done. Or you can be the first with a 750gig upgrade. That way it will match your 4000 in capacity. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
LOL, I was looking at more like a 250 GB for it. Darn it! I was hoping it would be the lucky "flashram" type. Grrrrr

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?

You've newish bios, new h/w version Prob fine for > 137GB |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Hate to do it, but I'm going to throw up another "me too" post...
I have a Snap 1000 that originally shipped with a 15g quantum drive. I'm assuming it's at least a V2 since it will not boot w/o a drive attached. Hardware ver: 3.1.2 Software ver: 3.4.790 BIOS ver: 2.1.366 If anyone could help me out with a link or something of 3.4.805, I'd appreciate it very much. I'm hoping to stuff a 300 gb or a 500 gb drive in it...or at the very least, get it upgraded to 3.4.805. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Register with Adaptec, and request the 3.4.807 OS. They have been sending links with ID and PW info to download the file.
|
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Can anyone please point me in the direction of the 1000.bin file or email it to me at eschwa@charter.net it would be much appreciated :-)
|
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
There is no such file. What are you looking for?
OS v3.4.807, can be had from adaptec if you register with them. Then request the file. Adaptec has been releasing v3.4.807 with out charge on request. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
REALLY! Adaptec is giving away the 3.4.807 .sup file? Are there any 'key words' to use with tech support in getting the file? Can we do it via email support?
Any release notes on what this gives you over 3.4.790? Hell, if their giving it away, can someone post it somewhere? Or do I have to join the "me too" list!:laugh2: tlichten@gmail.com |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
A little birdie told me that Snap os 3.4.805 was available in some sort of Bay of Pirates...
Or something |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Register with Adaptec, Then you can send a request for the v3 file. They in turn will send you a link to their ftp server with ID & PW. Users have reported receiving an email responce in about an hour.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
What I have is a snap 1000 v2 (i think) with dead hdd. Os must be on the hdd, I understand there are 2 models. I have the 2200.bin, but cannot get it to work, Elsewhere on the forum I read that sometimes the 2200 file will work and sometimes you have to have the 1000 file.
|
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
The 1000 are in a world of the own. V1 have the OS stored in flash. V2 has the OS on the HD. But some times they like the 2200 other like the 1000.

Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Put me on the Me-Too list - would like to get 3.4.805 or 3.4.807 for my v2 2000
S/N: 48K Hardware: 2.0.0 Software: 3.4.803(US) Bios: 2.0.252 Time to upgrade the dual 30GByte drives to 300GBs or so. Tried registering with Adaptec but thier reply was that I wasn't eligeble for support - unit is too old I guess.? Checked out the Pirates thing but can't seem to find anything to download? Any other sources? Also, at what point do you need to update the BIOS? I notice what mine is running is a bit older than what others are running. Any sources for that kind of thing? JELo |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
Register with Adaptec. Then on the support page there is a link for email support. Request the v3 update. They will send a link with login info for your download.
|
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
I don't mean to seem dense but I did register my unit with Adaptec and did attempt to go through the AskUS email support but I wind up at a web page that includes the following:
"The information you have entered indicates that your product is beyond its complimentary support period. Products beyond the complimentary support period are supported on a best effort basis via telephone for a fee." And I can't seem to get to a link to email them from there. This unit is about six? years old. I got it from my employer when they upgraded but it still seems to work just fine, just wanted to put some big drives in it. JELo |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
That a little short minded of them.
And I thought they were coming around. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
If someone could take pitty on a poor sole with a
4000 seriesI sure could use a pointer to 3.4.805 or higher. |
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
All 4 drive snaps os units reported as 4000. Is yours a 4100?
|
Re: Snap OS 3.4.805, anyone?
