Go Vote!
November 2nd is here (or almost) Go and Vote! Its the most exciting game of the year today. Sit back and watch the DNC and RNC go head to head! It should be interesting to see if we go into overtime on this game and the Lawyers are hauled onto the field.
If you dont vote you cant bitch about what happens in the next 4 years! (note: if your not a US citizen...well then dont vote, sit back and watch us screw this thing up royally!) |
not to dig for buggers, or anything, but should not the whole world get to part take in the US elections...... hell, it's the whole of the world that is expected to take the consequences of said election's result, good or bad.(though I'm yet to see the good-part being shared anywhere, by any politician)
if I could, I would have gone for nether of them.... NADAR is then obviously the perfect choice.... :D If you think about it.... the only way a politician can get people to vote for him, is to be sneakier and more devious than the next guy, and doing so with a higher degree of diplomacy.... this said, does it not then mean that, the guy at the bottom of the list is the most honest politician you can vote for..... hmmm then again "honest politician"..... no such a thing..... :D should be "least deceiving" M2C..... |
I agree with Joe. Please get out and vote. It is sure to be one of the closest elections in history. Your vote can make a difference for your candidate.

Yep, get out there voting, it´s Your right and Your duty. Wasn´t that what all the fuss in 1776 was all about?

I'm a Brit but I'm actually really excited about this. I think the common (mis)conception in the UK is that people are voting for a person rather than a party - which makes people tend to scorn at the word-bungling Bush and go for Kerry, without really knowing what the two of their parties stand for, which is what matters.
I'm really not that sure who I'd vote for to be honest, it just annoys me how people here think they know what they're talking about when they don't - but that's what voting's all about :p |
The tactical ballot, looking only to the election at hand, drives reduction politics. This system reaches perfection with a polarised and entrenched electorate, and the narrowest range of choices - two.
The truly strategic ballot is progressive, looking to the next election. These stray votes purposely "lose" so that their masters become prizes to be captured by vote-pandering shifts and favours in major party policy. This small fraction of deviant voters drive long-term political change. Vote for a loser now and just watch the big parties fall over each other to absorb his supporters for next election. |
I agree on the lawyer part. It is very difficult for us non-Americans to understand how you can win the elections without getting the majority of the votes. What kind of a democracy is that? Gore got more votes than Bush an Bush gets to be the president ??? I guess it had something to do with the states, and their weight in the overall decision, but doesn't that prove the system to be wrong?
Whoever wins, I hope it is clear this time, and not as dubious as last time... My favor goes to Kerry. Because I think if Bush get re-elected and behaves the same random-agressive way in international politics as het did in the past 4 years, the rest of the world is going to revolt against the US (and that would mean serious trouble, both political and economical, no?) |

The wife and I voted via absentee in Delaware a month ago or so.

I whish i was old enough to vote. But how come so many people who vote in presidential elections do not vote in local ones inbetween?
The local ones may have a more of an immediate effect then most people think. |

if, say, in a particular state, there are 1 million votes to one guy, 3 million to another, and 1 million votes left to count, they stop counting, because there is no point. or that's what I've heard. is it true? the way the media calculates the "popular vote" is just by adding up each state's reports. makes sense i guess but it doesn't matter, it is a union of states, where kerry has only the support of maybe a third of the states, maybe fewer, but since those states are bigger and have most influence by population, he could win. i voted absentee for kerry, but i'm not so sure about it, i just voted for him...well, i dunno why. I think i like a lot of bush's policies better, but i guess i like change, can't tell you. Hell, i'm a college student now...i have to vote liberal, right? I think i know which way jersey is gonna go anyway |
I did the early voting in NC, w000t kerry!
|
I guess bush won.
|
Yep, Soon the world will see this is a fully opperational battle station!

Which 'bad guys country' will he invent next to get the oil/power/something else he wants? My bets are on the US attacking Iran & North Korea over the next 4 years. any takers on that bet? |

Iran though. we'd be all about that shit ;) |
Plus the koreans can send us a nuke, I'm not sure about Iran.
I'm just waiting for Osama to fly a plane into the white house and be the world's hero :D |

But we are, we dont do anything unless the bet is in our favor and there is a low chance of losses.

For an evil empire we are quite guarded in out decisions for fear of the public catching on to how evil our decision making is :) Also loosing large amounts of american lives, in a quest for oil, or just because you dont like someone else is bad PR for the cabinet.
