Iwaki-PanWorld 10PX-MD10 - Anybody using it?

3 Attachment(s)
Has anybody tried these?

MD10 equiv. and MD15 equiv. and MD20 equivalent. The website says, "...designed and built by the former chief engineer from Iwaki-Japan ..."

This website seems to have several interesting pump brands I had not noticed being discussed. If I missed it, don't shoot me please.

/Add: Crap, I see it has been discussed. However, I have not seen anything from a person that actually owns one. Anybody?

Blackeagle 11-01-2004 02:54 PM

There are a couple guys over at Xtreme Systems that have the MD15 equivalent, the PX30, they seem to be very happy with them.

The PX30 is pretty much the twin of the MD15 Iwaki, but at more like WMD15 prices.

I've been watching for someone with the PX40 to post regarding how they like that one, but havn't seen any mention yet. Due to the fact that Panworld doesn't make a version of the PX40 that compares well with the MD20Z Iwaki, this may be why they aren't being seen.

BillA 11-01-2004 04:01 PM

many thousands using the 5PX

JWFokker 11-01-2004 04:11 PM

Damn. If I wasn't buying a new video card soon, I'd get that MD20 equivalent. It looks good. A bit big though.

9mmCensor 11-01-2004 04:53 PM

hrmmm. those are sweet. the yellow is pretty too.

pHaestus 11-01-2004 05:03 PM

haha Bill.

killernoodle 11-01-2004 05:16 PM

I'm assuming the 5px is the mcp600/aquaxtreme... I guess the general design looks quite similar.

EDIT: proven. Looks like I solved my own mystery:D

I definitely like the yellow...

BillA 11-01-2004 06:12 PM

yellow pumps more too

pHaestus 11-01-2004 06:15 PM

I have a "special recipe" for "yellow coolant" if you'd like.

Hmm, the pre or post yellow product? Might corrode something I think.

BalefireX 11-01-2004 09:09 PM

If your product of choice is american in origin, pre or post processing is irrelevant.

JWFokker 11-01-2004 10:25 PM

I don't know. Corona and Heineken are both pretty bad. What about Killians? It's made by Coors now but it's the same recipe and process as when it was made in Ireland. Exception to the rule?

JWFokker 11-01-2004 10:36 PM

Not to go off topic but does anyone have any input on these:

http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...gory_Code=MAK4

Both quite powerful and not too expensive. I'm primarily interested in the Blueline. It looks like a beast. The other one caught my eye because it's supposed to be quiet and produce little heat. The construction looks shoddy though.

Given the 140 watts of the first link, the reference post Cathar has been working on the last few days would seem to indicate you would hurt yourself with that pump.

killernoodle 11-02-2004 07:58 AM

Hey man, dont be dissing on corona... You cant beat it with a slice of lime in there:D

Sure as hell beats the Busch and PBR my buddies usually get...

I haven't gotten around to signing up to OCAU yet. Care to let me in on what you're referring to?

If you want good Mexican beer get Dos Equis XX. (is that spelled correctly?)

prb123 11-02-2004 07:12 PM

Sorry but Bohemia is the best Mexican Beer.

BillA 11-02-2004 07:18 PM

you guys must be at resorts or something, Bohemia ?
Corona is ubiquitous, Modelo 2ed (though considered better by Mexicans)

prb123 11-02-2004 07:28 PM

I don't think that anyone has ever referred to El Paso, TX / Juarez, Mexico as a resort. I no longer live there but it is possible that I sampled most if not all Mexican beers during my two year stay.

Ps. I have found Bohemia here in Michigan...now if I could just find some Shiner Bock.

BillA 11-02-2004 07:34 PM

much along the frontier and at resorts - found nowhere in the non-tourist areas

I don't drink anymore but this was one of my favorites. This and Saint Pauly Girl were regularly in my fridge. Now if someone would just hook up one of these blue line pumps to a keg :D

JWFokker 11-03-2004 12:39 AM

Haven't had Bohemia but St Pauly Girl is okay. I still prefer Killians Red.

But anyway, what's this guy referring to about the 140W on this pump:

http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merch...Code=DolphinEx

It'll dump too much heat into the lines? I might burn myself on it? I'm not a member of OCAU so I can't see the post he linked to.

DDogg 11-03-2004 02:45 AM

JWFokker, sorry, I did not realize you had to sign up even to read that board. Cathar has done an in-depth multi-page reference post titled - How much pump is too much? How much is enough? [Edit: Note there is now a duplicate of this thread posted in the ProCooling forum].
I think it would be disrespectful to quote much of it here, especially with the risks of quoting out of context to the reference charts and data. However here is one small snip.

DO NOT select a pump that draws more than 50W of power. Performance will not improve further and the pump will be drawing more power than is needed, effectively being a waste of electricity which just shows up on your power bill. Pumps drawing much more power than 50W will actually make your CPU hotter.

Tos 11-03-2004 03:41 AM

Nothing beats a good Leffe, Grimbergen, or Chimey ( Belgium beers )

also, the Newton ( apple flavored beer, great one ;) )

noteworthy : Gueuze, Mort Subite are good, Desperado is decent

Prefer Negra Modelo over Dos Equis and most anything over Corona lime or not

quite enjoy the Leffe Brun myself.

This one still catches my eye though. 65W, but it's got 14.5ft head and "the lowest heat trasfer of any pump on the market" if the manufacturer's claims are to be believed. Also supposedly quiet. And at only $10 more than the MCP650, I'd wager it's worth a look. 10" long is a pretty big pump though. It might not fit between my hard drives and video card....

It must not be cooled by the water it pumps like a lot of pumps. This one is fan cooled, which probably explains why it doesn't add much heat to the water.
