Rant -- SnapTec
It took me 3 emails and 30 min on the phone to get a copy of SNAP ASSIST. Of what possible use is it to a non-SNAP user, that they have make it like a trip to the dentist to get a copy...?
I can see their attitude re: upgrades...but utilities? [I needed a new version as the original would not find the 2000 in question...] |
Re: Rant -- SnapTec
They would much rather sell you a brand new system with a service contract than give the utilities you need to keep your old one going. Sad truth about Adaptec.

Yeah
Hence here thrives! |

We get a lot of traffic from them, turning off users. Adaptec is just the opposite of SnapAppliance. SnapApliance was real friendly and had a site where you could freely get software. NOT so with Adaptec. |
Re: Rant -- SnapTec
Alright, I am just going to say it. Adaptec sucks. Their customer service and support is AWFUL. When you buy a product, you expect support. But with Adaptec, they feel that even if you buy their product, you should pay them for support. This to me gives reason why NOT to ever buy a NEW PRODUCT from Adaptec, EVER... And they better wake up soon, their little snap server version of the cash cow is going to run out. Many other companies are providing very competitive NAS solutions these days, and with far superior support.
Did I pass on the rant-o-meter? |

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love to fish. What other activity do you get to drink beer, sleep, and still call it a sport? :D

Re: Rant -- SnapTec
This bait was design to catch all species of fish, and has done so for me. Used mainly for Bass. The designer of the lure WON every tournment he entered in the US, till they prevented (prohibited) him from using it, as was designed.

Spoonplug! http://buckperry.com/ Never tried it myself. Have to give it a go around! -bigcitymike More info from wikipedia: A spoonplug is a form of fishing lure. It was invented in 1946 by Elwood L. "Buck" Perry, then a physics and math teacher in Hickory, North Carolina. Perry combined science with a logical approach to fishing to create a "total fishing system." He decided to teach people to fish instead of teaching math or physics. He is credited as being the father of structure fishing and was later inducted into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. Buck used a total fishing system of understanding lakes types, water color, weather, tools and controls, and structure and mapping to make the system work. |

I registered my self with the Snap Server Number on the Adapter Website. Then request a SnapOS Version 4.860 update file. Download the 20MB file and unzip it Assist is in one of the folder. All in all it takes me 20 minutes. Note this version is a patch and not the full OS. Hope this help. Andy Ng. |
Re: Rant -- SnapTec

Mr Perry passed away last year. I actually meet Mr. Perry in the late 70's and early 80's. Have an autograph book from him. I went to one of his schools that was put on by him and a couple of persons that buck took under his wing. Could not afford the "on the water training" but know most everyone that did. So I learned it from them at a later time. He figured every thing out without the aid of electronics, by just using his spoonplugs. He was banned from fishing tournments, he won everone he entered. I use to head up the local chapter of the Dallas Spoonpluggers till it resolved may years ago. I guess I have been Spoonplugging for over 27 yrs. Hard to believe it's been that long. Using the baits blind will do you no good. The bait must bump the bottom. And most troll to slow. I have a waiting list when ever I go fishing. Everybody knows I catch fish. I no longer do the rat race, can't take the heat anymore. So I go out at dusk and fish at night, well use too. A friend ask me how I find my structure, with the lakes levels so low. One Word GPS. Puts me with in 15 ft, I can find it from there. Favorite spots "sharpest breaks to the deepest water in the area". I use his system to locate structure and how the fish use it. Then I anchor and relax. |
